Our Lady of Lourdes Nursing Program (Camden)

Published

I sent my application into OLOL (Camden) and I was wondering if anyone has attended this program in the past few years? I havent really found anything on the internet about this school and I was wondering if it is a good program or not. I have read that it was good 30 years ago... but how about now? I wanted to start Jan. 2012 but they already picked for that start date so I have my application in for August 2012. As of now that is my 1st choice in schools unless I hear that it's not a great program. I am very nervous about Nursing School to start with so it is important for me to hear about the program.

Yes it does. Seems soooo far away. I need to find a job in the mean time, make money... save money; so this way I dont have to work a full time job while I am in school. My unemployment is up soon. I hope that we are both there. I will let you know once I know something.

Hello Ladies,

I attend OLOL now and I can not say enough! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. The extensive clinical experience has been incredible. The faculty sincerely cares about you and your education. Good Luck, let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks so much for the awesome review! Now I really hope I get in :-)

Capemay...

Thanks so much for responding on this thread. I am even more excited now. I cant wait to hear back from them. I know that I have alot of time to wait, but I cant wait!!! I only applied to 2 schools, but OLOL is my 1st choice. Thanks!!!:lol2:

I was never soooo excited when I got my letter! I was bumped up a semester so you never know what could happen! Hold tight!

Im kinda hoping to get bumped up. I applied VERY early. I think that there are about 7 people that handed in their apps before me so who knows. I need to complete this semester and one course this summer and I am done all the courses that I need for OLOL. I really wanted to start Spring 2012 but I was ok with Aug 2012.

I am so happy that you are happy there. I need to go to a school that actually cares about their students. BCC doesnt really care about their students (and that was the only other school that I applied to). I have a ADHD and it takes me a bit longer to catch on. I need a good school. I am trying to pull my grades up for this semester b/c its been rough so far. I took to many courses and I am overwhelmed. But if I dont pull my grades up I think I will still be ok. I just wont have all A's and B's. Right now my GPA is fantastic. I wanted to try to keep it that way.

AHHH!!!! Sorry for my ramble. Was it hard to get in? Were you grades... like perfect? You dont have to give me specifics. Just a little detail would help. haha :yeah::lol2::up:

So I got a letter today, and I'm somewhat confused. When I called about applying, I told them what pre-reqs I needed. They told me to apply and I'd get a "conditional" acceptance, and as long as I got C or better in my classes and completed them within 3 semesters, I was in.

This letter says to finish the pre-reqs - which will be done fall 2011 - and then they will re-evaluate - and "good luck this semester!"

So - do they hold a place for when I pass the classes and submit the transcripts - or do I have to reapply for the next session?

UGH!

Beautygirlsmom!!!! You are in the same boat as me. When I went in and spoke with them I was told by a man (not naming names) that all I had to do was keep my grades up and finish my A&P II this summer. Well I called there the other day because I am starting to register for my classes for the fall and I wanted to know if Micro or Nutrition was "more" important. I know I need both of them but I wanted to know if I should do one before the other. According to the person I spoke with I need to Micro for admissions. So... I gave them my money for nothing. I wont get accepted because I dont have all the classes I need for August 2012. As of now (and the classes I am taking this summer)... all I have left are Micro and Nutrition.

I was so upset. I felt like I was lied too. I kinda want my $$$ back. I was lead to believe that I was going to be ok. They were going to count everything I am taking this summer. Looks like that wont even be enough!

I have not rcvd anything in the mail. If I was you, I would call. I submitted my application months ago and still nothing. Guess its good that you atleast heard something.

So, I got an email back from him. This is what I got back:

I wrote to him: “I understood that classes that were in progress or would be completed by the three semester deadline would conditionally count towards admission”.

He wrote back: This is a true statement for me. No worries. Stay focused on this semester.

So - I'm just crossing my fingers and praying that by the end of the fall semester, when I turn in all of my transcripts, I still have a spot open. In the meantime, I'm changing my schedule so I can do the Intro to Nursing class during the summer - I was going to wait until fall.

It's so frustrating! I would feel better if the letter had said "Congratulations" or something as opposed to highlighting the part where it says "this does not mean you have been admitted to the program"....

I still have not rcvd anything. At this point I dont expect anything for a few months. I dont think that I will have enough credits for OLOL for Aug 2012 start. I am only taking A&P II this summer. I still need Nutrition and Micro. I was planning on taking that in the fall. I dont think that is going to be good enough. It is what it is. I cant stress over it right now. At this point I am aggravated about the whole thing.I feel that I was misled. If I get accepted then great. If not then there are other schools. I am sad about the whole situation.

One of the classes I needed as a pre-req is Intro to Nursing. I took my letter over to Camden County today to register, and they said I couldn't register until I was accepted and OLOL put a petition in the system to allow me to take the class. So, they didn't accept the letter as a conditional admission.

However, they did call OLOL and spoke with admissions, and they did give me status as "conditionally admitted", so now I'll be taking the Intro to Nursing Course in the first summer semester - along with A&P I.

I feel a little more optimistic now than I did, but with 8 months still to go before I complete the pre-reqs, it's a little scary to think about all that could go wrong :-(

What other classes do you need?
