I just got my second Hep B shot and fortunately for me my insurance picked up the tab for me. But man if they didn't, I feel for ya there. Amazingly enough, I went in with a terrible fear of the shot and of needles and it actually didn't hurt that bad. The TB test hurt worse. Congrats on getting things under way to start nursing school. I'm in the same boat.
The shots do not hurt. The disease hurts. Just think of the days of rabies shots in the belly. Use your over the counter meds like benadryl and tynelol for the discomfort, if there is any. Be certain to ask about the shot for chicken pox if you have not had the disease,or get a titer, you will do fine.
Yep - I know what you are saying exactly - Our Hep series cost $40 apiece (we got a discount) Then after I had finished the entire series, I found out that it didn't convert and I had to do the entire series over again!
Luckily for me, by this time I had began working at the hospital on weekends as a PCT - so the hospital covered the cost of all my shots.
I graduated before I finished the series and moved and began working at another hospital and they are covering the rest of my second series
A part time job at the hospital might just be an idea to save you the cost of your vaccinations!
Just an idea

I'm starting school in the fall (nursing school - general classes) and I had to get some immunization shots today.
Not only did they hurt (3), but it cost me a whopping $167!!! :angryfire
And I still have to go back in two weeks for another shot! Geez...this is getting so expensive!!!!!!! I'm going to need the Hepatitis shots before I start the nursing program fall '05 - and that's going to cost me around $200 just for those three shots!
