OU San Diego BSN program

Published

Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct section for this thread, but I wanted to find out if there is anyone on this forum that is either attending, attended, or planning on attending the OU Accelerated BSN program in San Diego. I just applied for the fall 09 cohort which starts in Aug. and wanted to get some feedback or meet some other applicants. Thank you in advance,

Jen

I'm starting the OU Glendale BSN program in June. I'm so excited (and nervous)! I'd also love to talk to people in their satellite programs to get some insight.

Hi Donna - It's nice to meet you. Hopefully some other people respond to my post and we can have some insight! :) Good luck to you in the program.

Hi Jen,

I am an alternate for the summer 09 program and am going to reapply for the fall 09 start. I've been told that they are taking 56 applicants and I'm hoping I can get in this time. There's another thread here that has a lot of feedback from current students...if you do a search you'll probably find it. It sounds like it's a pretty busy and difficult program but worth it in the long run. Good luck to you!

Hi KT - Thank you for your response. I will look up the thread you mentioned. Good luck to you for fall admittance. I am anxious to find out as well! I guess July is when results come out. Take care and keep me posted maybe we'll be in the same cohort!

I am starting the accelerated program at OU in Oklahoma. I have heard that it is very challenging but talking to the current students at open house it is doable especially if you have a cohesive group who are trying to help everyone succeed. There will be 45 in our class. Good luck to you. We will have to compare notes on how the programs are. I'm very excited.:lol2:

Good luck to you as well. I am sure you will do great! :yeah: I'll try to keep people posted on here if I get in and how things are going.

Take care,

Jen

Hi Jen,

I am at the end of my 3rd semester, going into 4th in August. What do you want to know about the program?

I can tell you that it is very demanding (either don't plan on working or have a job that you can do homework). The program was a bit disorganized when I first entered but they got a new director this semester and things seem to be smoothing out. You hit the ground running, clinicals your first week. You have to be able to manage your time to a T and keep an organized schedule.

What else do you want to know? :)

Hi hopenurse - Thank you for your response. I did end up finding a pretty extensive thread on this topic and perused through it. There was a lot of good info. I do not plan on working, but I am a mom and my husband is Navy, so I know that will be a challenge. Is the schedule still the same as it used to be? What semester did u enter in? I am just waiting now. I really hope to get in and I guess results come out in mid to late July. Good luck with the rest of your program! :loveya:

Jen

I entered in the summer semester. As far as I know they are still following the same schedule. I have two classmates who's husbands are in the Navy. The first has two kids and her husband has been deployed (returning soon!) since the 2nd month of school. The second has a 1 year old who's husband was deployed for the last 6 months (he just got home). Sooo, it is possible but I know that they had some difficulties along the way with last min. schedule changes, scheduling babysitters and daycare around weekend clinicals, etc.

Good luck! Hope you get in the program!! Let me know if you have any other questions.

thank you hopenurse. that is really great to hear! :D i am really motivated and organized so i know that will help me. thank you for your insight and I wish you all the best as you finish school and embark on your career as a nurse. i hope to see you around the board. i'll post when i find out my status! take care. :loveya:
