OU 2020 ABSN PROGRAM (2019 APPLICANT)

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Hello Guys,

I am sure most of us have read all through last applicants and followed their journey. Now,it's our turn and I am super nervous and excited like most of you. I decided to create this page to give us an early start to sharing our journey and stating our fears. Hoping that in all through the completion of our remaining pre-requisites and submission of our application this 2019 for the 2020 admission year, we will virtually have a committee that can be there for us. So, let's get rolling guys. Share your fears, your journey and your joys and let's get motivated together.

I started my application today and I am already so nervous! I have a low cumulative GPA due to lack of maturity during my first 2 years of college. I am currently a teacher and have my Bachelor's and Master's of Education. I am in for the long haul, so if I don't get in this year, I will reapply next year. I have taken all of my pre-reqs except for Developmental Psychology. I am currently enrolled to start that class at TCC. I am looking for other online courses I can take at TCC to help boost my GPA. Because academic forgiveness is not taken into consideration, I prefer to have courses I have not previously taken. Anyone have good suggestions for these classes?

Also, I cannot get the secondary application on the OU admissions website to allow me to apply for the ABSN program. It is supposed to be open for applications as of today!

I turned in applications for all three locations hoping that gives me a better chance even though I prefer OKC campus. I have my bachelors in Health Education and Promotion from OSU and am still finishing two pre-reqs this semester so I am hoping that doesn't cause me not to get in. Can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts and journeys!

Hi!

Does anyone know if you HAVE to have a STATS class done before the start of the program?

Also I have sent in my requests for my transcripts for the "colleges attended" part of the app. Do you have to wait for those to be confirmed that NursingCAS got them before you sent in your app? I entered in all the "transcript" part manually so im not worried about that part.

You must have them all done before the program starts. Because it is an accelerated program, there isn't really going to be time to work on pre reqs (or anything else) once it starts. You have to wait until they receive them then you have to wait until they check them. It takes a few weeks after they get the transcripts to check or "confirm" them. You can submit your app first and it will update once it is confirmed. Did you submit an application on the OU website too?

I've been accepted to OKC! Good luck everyone.

Congrats! I have been accepted to OU Tulsa.

Does anyone know how many people they usually accept for each location?

I don't remember off the top of my head, but it's on their website.

Lawton-16

OKC-44

Tulsa-40

For those accepted, what was your GPA and did you have all the science prereqs done?

I had the same question about science prereqs because I am currently taking Microbiology.

It is okay to be currently enrolled in pre reqs. It is not okay if they will not be finished before the program starts. They definitely prefer you to have most of them finished before applying, especially if they will count against your science GPA.

My last 60 GPA was 3.5 and my Science GPA was 3.75. I have a Master's and a Bachelor's so I don't know if that helped me at all.
