Hi guys! Interviews started today for the May 2011 cohort, and I think I was one of the first few to interview. I know we can't talk about specific questions that were asked during the interview, but I just wanted to see if anyone would like to share their reactions/experience here.
I personally felt pretty good, I did get one "I love your answer!" so that made me feel a little more secure:D since I felt like I stumbled on this one other question. I did feel a little rushed since they told me the interview would be super short right in the beginning (did anyone else feel that way?) I didn't get a clear answer on where we will be having clinicals/classes though....
I'm sure it will be another month after interviews end until we all get mailed acceptance letters.
Any thoughts you would like to share?.....
Hi Danigirl,
OU was also the only school I had applied to. I am thinking I will reapply, but I want to wait a little bit. My husband just got into graduate school for this fall term. I did not know that when I applied to OU. So, I will wait until his program is done, then go all out again and apply to OU. I did not have any volunteer experience or anything like that, so I will likely try to do that in the interim. I may apply to WSU and EMU, but I really wanted OU because I had most of the requirements and did not have to retake classes.
Good luck to you! Do not let this discourage you!
Well - I am noticing a pattern here. It seems the reject letters went out the last week. I am at work now and do not have access to my mail, however, I can see what is coming.
I hope all can remember that life is not a race but a journey and use this rejection and disappointment to fan the flame that got us here in the first place. I hope to see you all on this website discussing our nursing jobs in the future!!
Ebledsoe,
I did not have any volunteer experience either. I also had all my pre-reqs completed. At the time of the interview I was going through the volunteer process at Sinai-Grace but have yet to be placed. I do plan to reapply but I was wondering do we just resubmit our applications and keep the same essays. And then just go through the interview process again? I guess I will contact someone at OU about it. By the way, my letter was dated August 24th so that seems to be around the time they sent out the rejection letters but who knows. Like Dandy said I hope we all be on here in the future as nurses and helping others in our situation.
Thanks guys. :) I am just so disappointed because this is the 3rd year I have applied to second degree programs and been rejected (however, this is the first time I've applied to OU). My letter was also dated August 24th. I have nearly 13 years of health care experience and a good GPA. I'm guessing I just didn't "wow" them at my interview. I'm not sure I'll apply again. If I decide to, does anyone know (I know it has to be 6 months from now) if we can interview again next March or do we have to wait until Fall 2011? Does my question make sense?
Hi guys,
Just to post - I got my bum letter today as well. Thanks for waiting it out and I wish everyone the best of success going forward...don't give up and keep trying! I think Oakland turned away some really good nurses!!
At Evansmom,
I know it is hard when you keep getting the door slammed in your face but determination does pay off! Don't give up!
I will have a glass of wine and a big hot fudge sundae in all of your honor tonight! Cheers!
sorry folks for the disappointing news because I've been through one myself...Just know that every disappointment is a blessing!!!
Evansmom, this is the first time am hearing this "6 month" rule b'4 re-applying. I initially applied and got rejected for the Jan 2011 cohort. I got my letter last April and out of frustration and anger I emailed the coordinator /adviser to know when i can re-apply. she said i can re-apply for the next cohort (may 2011) which i did last may but I didn't continue with the interview process cos i got accepted by two other schools...
So i don't know where you got the "6 months" stuff from...In doubt just contact the coordinator cos she has the most accurate information...
Danigirl10, You will have to submit a new application but you can keep the same essay. But to be on a safe side, you might wanna write a new essay cos you really dont know why you got denied at first especially if you felt good about your interview.....
I just got my letter rejecting me and I am so ****** and shocked. I spent the last 1 3/4 years
working toward the prerequistes and met w/the advisor numerous times and was told I would be a good fit for the school and should get in. I've spent the past 13 years doing various volunteer work with medical mission groups, fundraising, and patient care. I don't have a back up and am sick to my stomach. I don't know what I am going to do now.

I am sorry evansmom. I know what you are going through. Was your letter dated 8/23 too? You know you can always reapply if you want to. Best wishes to you in the future!
