I just got my acceptance letter today! I'm so excited, but nervous and worried at the same time. Now I have to quit my current job and figure out a way to still pay my mortgage. Anyway...has anyone else got theirs yet??
As far as the Mosby videos go, I think that's different for everybody whether you will use them or not. I watched some at the beginning but I haven't since then. They are good for learning certain skills, but I wouldn't say they are necessary for everybody. That's a personal decision on your part. It's on my list of required things we need for 2nd semester, so I think it's going to be one of those things that may be used throughout the program.
Finals went well. I ended up with an "A" in the class. Yay! I was stoked and I'm enjoying the break for sure!
I ordered my scrubs on the Dec 22nd and they are still not ready. So I would advise you to order them asap. I already have most of my books, all of which I bought for the bookstore used so I'm very happy. I still have to get the mosby dictionary and the drug guide but I'm going to order them from borders because they are like almost $10.00 less per book. Every little bit helps right. lol. The last time I went they were putting out more books but they did not have the drug guide.
Wow, you still don't have them? I wonder why they let people order until the 16th if they take so long to get in. Did you order them through the bookstore? I saw them on some website for a few bucks cheaper, but I don't know if we HAVE to order them through the bookstore or not. Did you get the long or short lab coat?
They said it usually takes 2-3 business days to come back so that may be why they are taking orders up to 16th. I was told that my scrubs were in fact end but still did not have the patches sewn on but they should be ready today. I ordered from the bookstore because I did not want to take the chance that I would not get the scrubs in time just because I wanted to save a few bucks. Plus I noticed that if the shirt was on sale then the pants were not and they were usually slightly higher than at the bookstore. I ordered the long lab coat. I think I'll just wait until the day of orientation to pick them up.

I've been reading threads from other students in first semester and they say it's next to impossible to get an A. Since you did, could you tell me what you did? Also was it extremely hard or just difficult. Orientation is next week, I'm not really concerned with that I just really want to make an A my first semester. Any tips will help. Did you study with study group?

Hello and congratulations on beginning the nursing program!!! :yeah:Obtaining an A is not impossible. I ended up with an A in every semester besides 3rd in which I received a B.
One book I highly recommend for 1st semester is Fundamentals Success by Patricia Nugent. It contains the types of questions you will encounter on the 1st semester tests. It was SO helpful for me. Here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/Fundamentals-Success-Applying-Critical-Thinking/dp/0803619219/ref=sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1263102733&sr=8-5 It is listed on amazon for around $25. You can also find it at Barnes and Noble or Borders. This book also helped me to gain confidence in learning the material.
Hope this helps and good luck!!! :)
Congrats muff81 and threelittlerocs!! I got my acceptance letter the other day also!! I have been trying to find out info from former students on what the program is like. I have heard some horror stories from friends at OU's program and a few others so I just want to make sure that I am making the right decision. My friend attends OU and is a very good student with a 3.9 GPA. She said her program is was very disorganized and the grading system makes it difficult for you to get high grades no matter how hard you try. So I am worried about making the right decision about which school to attend. I want to attend a school that is fair on grading and that I can learn alot and be well-prepared when I finish. I hope that OSU-OKC is that school!
I just graduated this semester at OSU-OKC. I read that you were concerned if you would be treated fairly at this school in this program. Without a doubt, you will be treated fairly. The instructors here are wonderful and want you to succeed.
I agree that obtaining an A is not impossible at all. There were many students in my class who also got A's. I didn't do study groups but that's just because I study better alone. It's a personal preference and everybody is different. I would get the help of classmates when needed though. I will say to do any and all extra credit that they offer to you. Every point counts and taking the time to do that extra credit can make the difference in your letter grade. If you really want to make an A, it is possible with the effort! Good luck!
Also about the scrubs, I remember not ordering mine until the day of orientation, and they were ready in plenty of time for clinicals. I know you do not have to order from the bookstore. I did, but there were those who did not.

Did you find this book helpful for any other semesters? Or were there other books that helped? Congrats on graduating and for making good grades!
