I agree that obtaining an A is not impossible at all. There were many students in my class who also got A's. I didn't do study groups but that's just because I study better alone. It's a personal preference and everybody is different. I would get the help of classmates when needed though. I will say to do any and all extra credit that they offer to you. Every point counts and taking the time to do that extra credit can make the difference in your letter grade. If you really want to make an A, it is possible with the effort! Good luck! Also about the scrubs, I remember not ordering mine until the day of orientation, and they were ready in plenty of time for clinicals. I know you do not have to order from the bookstore. I did, but there were those who did not.

As far as the Mosby videos go, I think that's different for everybody whether you will use them or not. I watched some at the beginning but I haven't since then. They are good for learning certain skills, but I wouldn't say they are necessary for everybody. That's a personal decision on your part. It's on my list of required things we need for 2nd semester, so I think it's going to be one of those things that may be used throughout the program. Finals went well. I ended up with an "A" in the class. Yay! I was stoked and I'm enjoying the break for sure!

We had the 2nd semester instructors come talk to us today, so now I am telling you to buy the books rather than rent them. LOL The Fundamentals book is a required book for 2nd semester as well, so it would be better to just have it. In orientation they just told us what to expect and went over a lot of information with us. We didn't pick which hospital we did our clinicals at, we filled out a clinical information form and they picked clinicals from those. For the most part, they went by where you live, but that wasn't the case for everybody. I know we had groups at SW Integris, Baptist, Deaconess, and Community hospital. You are welcome for answering the questions. I hope they help at least a little. All we have now is the final for next week so it's time to study, study, study! Then we get a breather before 2nd semester, which has me a little scared! lol We can do it!

It's no problem answering questions. I know I was full of them and having any answered helps! I was talking about the 7th edition Fundamentals book. I plan on keeping all my books. I know they will help me throughout the other semesters. It's totally a personal decision if you want to rent or buy the books. I did buy the e-package but honestly I never used the book online so for me, I didn't necessarily need it. Some people may find it more helpful but it wasn't too me. You definitely need your fundamentals book as well as your drug guide and nursing diagnosis handbook. I have used the lab and diagnostic test book as well but not as much as the others. As far as the lab, it doesn't matter which day you have lab, you will still only have Wednesday for your paperwork because you don't actually go to the hospital until Wednesday to get your patient assignments and then you start your paperwork after that. That part of it isn't as time consuming as it seems. It's all the paperwork after the clinical that takes up your time. LOL

Congrats everybody! I am currently in the first semester nursing program at OSU-OKC and I can tell you all that you chose a great program! The first semester instructors are awesome! Sure there have been many days I question myself and feel very overwhelmed, but then a day comes along that reminds me of why I chose this profession. I know in the end, it will all be worth it! I am glad and sad about the first semester ending. I'm ready to get on with the next semester and get closer to graduating, but I will miss the instructors and I know it's only going to get harder. Oh, the grading system in any nursing school is going to be different than the regular grading system. Don't let that stress you out, as long as you keep up with your work and study for the tests, you should do just fine. Good luck to you all!

I am taking Chemistry and Anatomy in the fall and both have labs. At my school, they split Anatomy and Physiology up. I will take Physiology in the spring because it has a pre-req of Chemistry. I've taken Anatomy before and did well, but I haven't taken Chemistry since high school. Good luck to us all!

You guys are all amazing! It is definitely not an easy path for any of us, but I know we will all do it! I'm actually new to this place, just happened to come across it today and am glad I did. I am a mother of 3 and am currently working full time. I've done the college thing once and had some classes knocked out of the way, but have had to take a few pre-reqs this time around. I've been doing online classes since January but the classes I have left to take before I apply to the nursing program aren't offered online, so I'll be back in the classroom in August. Somehow I've managed working full time, taking my classes, and having all 3 of my kids in different sports. I don't know how, but me and my husband have done it. My husband is being deployed in August and will be gone for a year. Of course it happens when I will be taking my most difficult classes. I had thought about putting off school for another year, but I just don't want to. I'm ready to get it done! I did decide to quit my full time job though. It was really the only option with him being gone. I can go to school during the day while the kids are in school, and then I'll be able to run them to all their sporting events at night. It will still be hard, but I'm determined to make it all work. Good luck to everybody! In the long run, this will all be worth it!
