I'm not sure how much they pay for new grads, but in 2012, they offered me a position in ICU for a little over $25/hr with a 4.75 night diff and 4.75 weekend diff. I had a year and a half of experience at the time. Thing is, OSU is a tough place to work right now, that's why I turned the offer down. They are mandating overtime, forcing RNs to work 16 hour shifts... You also have to pay out the nose for parking... I think I remember it being like $35 a month and you have to park far away in an uncovered lot and take a shuttle! You also have to pay union dues which aren't cheap, and obviously don't have an RN's best interest in mind if they're mandating left and right. I've worked all over Columbus and the best places for new grads in my opinion are Riverside, Grant, and Children's.
Ive thought about Ohio Health. Do you know which hospitals of theirs you recommend working at? Any idea what new grads start at? Benny's?
New grads starting at $24/hr. Thats pretty standard across all the central ohio hospitals with maybe $0.10 differences. Mt Carmel, ohio health, OSU. I do know OSU and Nationwide Children's are on hiring freezes right now for budget issues.
You can find the union contract that outlines OSU nurse pay based on years of experience. New graduate nurses start at $24.24/hr inpatient and $23.56/hr outpatient. Shift differential is $5/hr for evenings, nights, and weekends. Therefore, if you work night shift on the weekend, you get an extra $10/hr on your base pay. Raises are given each year, as outlined in the union contract. Cost of parking varies from about $250-500/year depending on what level of parking pass you want.

SO I was in Columbus last night visiting some friends and I absolutely fell in love with the area. It has renewed my interest in applying to OSU medical center after I graduate in May. What is the starting pay at OSU? What is the differential? And does OSU offer weekend differential?
