Hi! Is anyone else planning to apply to Ohio State's grad entry program, 2019 start date? I am checking every day, waiting for the application to be open! I am studying for the GRE (taking it 7/28) and trying to find someone to shadow. I'll be applying to the CNM track.

Hi! I just came across this thread and I plan on Applying this summer once I complete all of my perquisites! This thread makes me super excited and happy for everyone who got in! I was wondering if I could know so of your backgrounds, specifically those of you who applied for the PMHNP, because that would be my goal!!! ? I would highly appropriate it!!!!!

Thanks! I felt pretty uncertain about my chances of acceptance into PMHNP, but so happy and relieved it worked out. I think the greatest weakness of my application was my overall GPA being ~3.2, but my recent grades are all A's and prerequisite GPA is ~3.8. I'm currently in an accelerated Masters of Science program that bridges into a DO medical program, but I feel like the NP route is truly a better fit for my goals. I've been particularly interested in psych/mental health for several years and I believe my PS demonstrated that through my personal/volunteer/work experiences. I'm also a mother of two young boys, which came up in my PS and interview. So definitely a nontraditional applicant, but I get the feeling that the program values life experiences and really does take a holistic approach in their evaluation.

If you demonstrate your potential for academic success along with a developed knowledge and passion for the field through your personal statement/LORs/etc, I think chances of acceptance are good. Best of luck!

@NP_hopeful19 Omg thank you so much for this information! Did you state that your GPA was less than a 3.2? and okay! Do you have any tips for people who are applying and trying to get in and how to make their application more competitive? Sadly I do have a lower GPA for undergrad but I also have my masters in Social Work and graduated with a 4.0 and was able to get a lot of research experience through my undergrad and my graduate courses. I was also able to get a publication as well while getting my masters too. Do you have any tips?

I'm not exactly sure what the final calculation was (I had grades from a few different schools), but my cumulative GPA was somewhere around a 3.2. I think having strong recent grades definitely helps. I also mentioned interest in research in my PS, and I believe your experience/publication will be viewed positively! If your undergrad GPA is below 3.0, I think having a strong GRE score would be important, but I don't know that would be necessary since your graduate GPA is so good. I'm sure the admissions coordinators would be able to provide useful feedback and advice on the different components of the application, and they're super nice!

Oh Wow really!!!!?? That's super nice! and I'm glad its not below a 3.0, so hopefully I'm fine! Lol and yeah they did seem nice when I would call with questions. Do you attend any informational sessions or anything? How was the interview process, both for the application and the in person interview too. I really hope so! I try to make myself more competitive with my extra activities from my undergrad being in a service fraternity and a social sorority as well doing a lot of community service. Were the in person interviews more relaxed or intimidating? and what were some of the questions asked, if you don't mind me asking lol
