Has anyone got their ONC? I've tried looking around at study guides but none are really tailored to what I need. Just looking for helpful advice on what resources I should be using to help get my certification.

Yes, got my ONC. Waiting to retake the ONP-C. Practically the same exam! There is a textbook-I got it used (NAON : Core Curriculum for Orthopaedic Nursing, 7th Edition). There is a study guide that's basically copies of Powerpoints and very basic. There is also a CD with questions--it is filled with errors, misspelling, and poor quality but useful enough. I would suggest knowing signs/symptoms/treatment protocols for the obvious musculoskeletal conditions plus genetic/cancers. I haven't used any PA study guides but this link (http://www.nbcopa.org/uploads/3/4/9/4/34943214/nbcopasourcelist.pdf) is a list of resources the PA Board lists. It might be overkill b/c they do surgery too.

I used the powerpoint packet that I got at a review session and the CD-ROM to prepare. I thought the test was easy.

I was worried about peds because I work with adults, but there are 2-3 questions, tops about that. I thought the test was pretty easy.

I took the test and got certified 2 years ago. I borrowed the study guide from a friend who took the prep course. But more importantly I spent about $150 on modules offered on the ONC website. Many of the question were IDENTICAL and specific to the test.

Hi,

chiromed0 how did you do on the ONP exam and what did you use to study? I’m taking my exam next month and was curious if just studying the recommended materials was enough or If you did the study course offered by NAON. I am trying to decide if it’s worth it to buy or not.

I purchased all of the study questions too. Do you think I will be OK just studying those and doing the Review from NAON class?

I don't-sorry! I gave to my unit as a resource for others to get certified.

Sorry for the late reply it… No, that is all I use was the book and some modules!

For the modules I believe I did areas where I didn’t feel strong in, such as sports injuries, orthopedic oncology, pediatrics and I can’t remember the other one...
