Orlando Florida/ Americare- LPN school

U.S.A. Florida

Hello,

Has any one here attended or is presently attending Americare's LPN program in Orlando Florida? If so, what is it like and what was the process for being chosen for the program?

Thank you,

China4mom

I will be attending orlando tech in august but I did call americare but I did not choose this school because they did not have any part- time program. I will still need to work a few days a week to make ends meet and orlando tech really fit the bill for me. I almost did not get, they filled up very quickly and they give you a packet of stuff to fill out and sign by a doctor and dentist.YES DENTIST! by the time I did all of this all the night classes where taken I called everyday for two weeks then finally someone cancelled.

Just a question are they nationally accredited (sp)? That's something you need to look into before getting in too deep. If they are not nationally accredited, you can not take the NCLEX after completion. Look into it. All the best to you.

That isnt true...as long as they are approved by the fl board of nursing, u can sit for boards. check the BON web site but Im pretty sure they are. If they arent regionally and/or nationally accredited, you may have trouble furthering your degree...meaning you would have to retake some coursework like A&P,etc. But at the tech school level, the A&P they teach u is very basic and is not the same as the college level. If you want to continue for your RN you will need to complete whatever pre reqs are required for the school u want ot go to for the LPN to RN bridge. As long as you have a valid nursing license you can get into a bridge program.

Once u get to the college level and get your RN....for example if u get your ASN at a community college, then u want the program to be accredited bc if u want to get your BSN and/or MSN you want your college classes to transfer. If the school is accredited they may not.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I was accepted into their program and begin in Sept. 4th. I did check the BON and they have an excellent pass rate for the NCLEX-PN. I am really excited to begin!!

Thank you,

Congrats on getting accepted!! :balloons: I am currently studying for the NET to get into Americare. How was the interview and the essay??

Hello Wanting to BE LPN,

The NET is as you see it in the book, especially the math portion. The reading part was fine as well, not to much like you see it in the study guide. For the interview I had to fill out a brief (250) word eassy about why I wanted to be a nurse. The interview was fine too. Brief, the instructor that interviewed me was very nice. So far my experience with everyone there has been pleasant. What session do you hope to enter, Sept. or Jan.?

Good Luck.

Thanks! That doesn't sound too bad! I am hoping to enter the Sep. session! Keep your fingers crossed for me. Have you had any problems getting a loan? And are you going to work while in school?

Hi W2BALPN,

I am not sure yet. I wish I had an idea as to what to expect of the classes. I have read that you need 2-3 hours a night to study. I wish I knew what to expect of the A&P, Nutrition, Human Life Span, Mental Health. I have already had A&P I & II, Psy,Soc., Nutrition at the college level. My plan is to not work while in school. As far as the money ,have not tried for a loan. Go in to speak to financial aid on Friday. I/m not worrried about that part , it will come.

Good luck to you, keep me posted.

Hi China! Hope financial aid went well for you. Americare called the other day and say there is now a cut off date to take the NET. I'm trying to get my butt in gear! :lol2: I will probably take it at the end of next week. Is the NET 60 questions in 60 minutes? And do they give you your results right then? I will probably have to work, atleast part time. Thanks for replying!

Hello,

I hope you get in for September. The NET , the math portion is 60 questions in 60 minutes, then it is the reading part, then the part that is not really counted, quite a few questions that are your opinion, no right or wrong answers. Yes, you will see your score as soon as you are done . When you are done just go back to the front desk and tell them you are done with the test and they will get the print off of your score.

The math is as it is in the NET guide. Starts off easy, adding , subtracting, division, lots of percent and fraction problems , it ends with algebra.

Good luck , keep me posted.

Thanks! I am taking the NET on Monday so I will let you know! I've been studying my butt off, so I hope it goes well. And the 60% you have get, is that the average for both the reading and math? Or is it 60% on each section?
