Oregon Community College NURSING CLASS OF 2015

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Wow this was a stressful admissions process but in the end we all made it out alive.

Figured we needed a place to meet and greet each other, discuss classes, and give everyone a helping hand when we need it (and lord knows we will need it somewhere on our journey through school!!!!

I'm Kristen... a mom of an awesome three year old boy... an alumni or Oregon State University (c/0 2008)... a military wife..... and Portland native (but due to military circumstantial have been bounced around the west coast since I graduated).

Its been a long time coming to get to go back to school. My son was born (by surprise) and was very sick, undergoing heart surgery along with many other procedures, he is healthy now so its my turn to get back on track! I look forward to meeting you all very soon!!!!

My name is Chrystal I am a mother of 3 children who will be 17, 11 and 6 within the next few months. I have been a medical assistant for 11 years except for the past 2 years that I have just been focusing on school and completing my pre-reqs. I am excited to have been accepted to PCC. I was denied to OHSU, Concordia and UP. I am so happy that all of this waiting is behind us and we can begin completing our journeys and becoming awesome nurses. :nurse:

Hey guys I posted on the 2013 Portland nursing school link but saw someone had made a link specifically to PCC's class so I wanted to post here as well. First Congrats on getting in!!!!! It's such a relief. Second I'm at PCC and graduating in June (so ready!!!) I have tons of books I'd love to sell, mine will be cheaper than the bookstore and amazon and I live in SE so if you can meet me around Sellwood or at PCC there's no shipping. If you're interested message me at [email protected] and I'll shoot you our book list, what I have and how much I'd like to sell my books for. If all mine go I can let others know in my class about this site- I'm sure we're all willing to go much cheaper than the pcc book store and amazon, we've got NCLEX to pay for afterall. PS a heads up there are like 20 books on the list and I spent close to 1000....

Hi all!

My name is Stephanie and I'm thrilled to be part of PCC's Nursing Class of 2015! I've got a little one as well, he just turned two last weekend. He's definitely my little angel. I work as CNA at a retirement community in Newberg, but will probably be quitting once school starts. My job has definitely strengthened my desire to be a nurse. In my spare time (which is close to none!), I like to run, hike, spend time with my family, read, and cook fancy meals.

Congrats everyone!

I can't believe we made it! I'm really excited to be working with all of you over the next couple of years. I'm a father of 4 and an alumni of George Fox University. I'm trying to figure out if I'll be able to continue working while I'm in school. Are any of you taking BI234 this summer or in the fall?

I wont be taking it I do not believe- it all depends on if they are going to accept my credit from Oregon State (completed in 2007) So since I am accepted and what not I just need to talk to an advisor after we have our orientation to figure out if I will need to retake it (PRAYING I DONT!!!).... Father of 4 thats tough work!!!!!!!

Hey everyone! I'm excited to say that I will be attending PCC in the fall! I graduated from University of Oregon in 2011 with a B.S. in general science with minors in human physiology and biological anthropology. Some of my "clinical" experiences include: worked as an EMS intern at Portland Fire & Rescue, I was a peer health educator at UO and worked in the health center, and the past year and a half I have been working as a CNA in a long term living facility and love my job! Currently I am taking a CMA class to start becoming familiar with medications so pharmacology will be a little bit easier. Im still not sure about working while Im in school but I still have some time to decide before school starts. This has been a long roller coaster with this whole application cycle. This is my third year applying to nursing school and have been denied the first two years. This year I was accepted to Clark and PCC and chose PCC since I dont live very far from the campus. I am so excited to finally start this journey during nursing school! See you all at orientation!

I took bio 234 a few summers ago and loved the class (my favorite class I have taken at PCC). My instructor was incredible! I would recommend taking it this summer. I look the 8 week course (2x a week) and was the best way to do it I think. It was very interesting information on the microbio side as well as an awesome biology review.

Finally turned in my acceptance form and seat deposit!!!

Part of me wants to review anatomy before fall.... but part of me wants to enjoy my summer ;)

j.c., I was going to be in the UO c/o 2011 before taking a year off and deciding on nursings (yeah, I'm taking a looonng time to get a degree). We might know each other. I'm thinking about becoming a CMA as well, but with my quitting before fall, I don't know if my job will consider that a good investment, ya know?

apple74, I took microbiology last term, but enjoyed the class. If you are good with life science, cell bio, ect, then it shouldn't be too hard. I loved my professor, but I'm pretty sure she's in India until fall term. Goodl luck with the class!

I've been planning on reviewing anatomy too, but probably won't ;). Does anyone know if PCC confirms they got your acceptance letter?

Two is such an adorable and hard age. I'm really glad there are so many of us with families, it's nice to know I'm not alone!
