Anyone work at OPMC in Jacksonville / Orange Park, FL?

I have an interview there soon and I'd like some insight on pay, benefits, patient ratios, anything you might have to say.

The unit I'm interviewing for is a medical-psychiatric unit. Not their behavioral health unit, but a med unit with psych patients. Any info?

One question that seems obvious that I can't seem to find -- do they have 12 or 8 hour shifts?? can anyone tell me?

Thank you!

i dont know about the shifts but i know of 5 new hires at that hospital who started at 21.10 -22.10. also in case your wondering. all the employees i have know to work at OPMC are happy with them. i know they have a less than stellar reputation with some but they are a good company to work for and have a career.

That's good to hear, thank you. I did find out in my interview that they do have 12 hour shifts, so that's good. =)

I've heard that they have a hot n cold reputation, but everything I've heard from patients and nurses that I've known has been positive, so I think I would enjoy it there.

The waiting begins! *crosses fingers*

If that's the unit I'm thinking of, the nurse manager (Diana Bridges) is wonderful. She was our clinical adjunct and did a fabulous job of teaching. She'll be a great leader for you to have - no nonsense but very good. Best of luck!

Yes I agree with the other postwr on the hot and cold reputation. I think you will enjoy being part of the OPMC team

I have worked there in the past and I am about to restart working there in 2 weeks in the Labor and Delivery department. I've worked in several hospitals and OPMC has been my favorite. For the interview it will be a panel interview with the manager, educator and director of the unit. They usually also have you interview with your peers but not all units do that. If they like you, you interview with the CNO but it is not a real interview it's more like a meet and greet. The benefits are expensive compared to other places I've worked. The OT is awesome, each hour of OT you work, you get paid time and a half plus an additional $10 each hour.

Thank you for the details. I'm hoping in January to get into the L&D department myself

What experience do you have? I have been a nurse for 4 years mostly neuro/stroke. I am so excited to finally land a job in L&D! I wish you luck!

My experience as of late is more in home care (adults and pediatrics) and volunteer/public heath services. But I am hoping to make the switch over to L&D
