Oral Roberts university

I admittedly don't know much about ORU, and I realize this is not the Nursing & Spirituality forum. However I have a concern that I need to point out. Oral Roberts was a proponent of theology called Word of Faith. There is a lot of information about it on youtube (Justin Peters has particularly good information), but in a nutshell the theology claims it is always God's will for us to be wealthy and it's always God's will for us to be physically healed. Furthermore because the Bible says man is made in God's image, WOF claims that humans possess creative power in our words, just as God can speak things into existence. the Bible does not teach this.

Now my concern with regard to WOF and nursing is that clearly, despite all of our efforts and prayers from family, patients die. Sometimes God's answer is not to heal a person this side of heaven. WOF is extremely harmful and I will say spiritually abusive to and ill and hurting person. Sometimes the teaching even convinces people not to seek medical help because they believe we can and claim our healing; and therefore, seeking help shows a lack of faith.

If it were a friend or family member looking for a nursing school and looking for advice, I would need to be 110 percent convinced that the school is not teaching these doctrines at all. Ideally, I would want the faculty -- particularly the nursing faculty -- to agree that WOF is heresy straight from the pit.

ORU is an amazing school and the, oral Roberts himself has put somewhat of a bad rep on the school for people who are not aware of it. But the school is under amazing leadership now that does not follow in his footsteps. The nursing school I hear is great as well. I will be attending there in the spring. My sister is there now and that's the school both my parents when to. The professor really care for you there and they have information on their website to what exactly a 4 year plan would look like for a BSN
