So im a newgrad nurse in the OR, and as im doing more advanced surgeries im finding myself occasionally getting completely lost. (ill mention this entire post im referring to the scrub role, not circulating)
Today was the first time I felt like I was truly struggling to keep up/organized (it was a vascular case I have very little experience in) and to be honest most of the anatomy/procedure itself was completely bewildering to me.
Anyone have any resources that can simplify or be more straightforward in regaurds ton operations ?
I have that Rothrock textbook which is somewhat useful, but it seems overly complex and catered to someone with far more experience/knowledge (thus to me it comes off incredibly confusing)
Just trying to get ahead while I have the blanket of orientation and supervision over me
Any advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated
And just as an added question, does anyone know of any smartphone apps that would be catered towards or nurses/scrub techs?
A coworker of mine was showing me something they use to help them with anatomy/diagnosis's but thats all I know of
Thanks again

Try the AST website or any of their textbooks. Since they are for surgical technologists, they should focus on the scrub role.

Ah, Dr. Jane Rothrock, I learn to be a scrub tech at her knee!!!! I am now an OR nurse and have been for over 20 years. I would say try you tube, there are often videos on there. As far as an app, I'm not sure if I know of one. Your best recourse would be to ask questions during the surgery (if your surgeon is allowing it) and if you feel that you need assistance you should call your charge nurse or whomever is running the OR schedule and ask for assistance of another nurse or scrub tech. Many of these situations happen in the moment and there is not shame, as a newbie, in asking questions or asking for help. Good Luck!!
