OR or ICU what will u choose ?

OR :uhoh21: ICU ????? give me some idea and suggestion :bowingpur.. if U all get to choose between this 2 place to work where will u all go and why ? I really dont know what to fo now ...how is the caree advancement in OR ? Will I be in OR forever and cant come out once I choose to work in OR ? :icon_roll

CRNA is more school and yes, anyone can obtained this status. You would be able to see first hand before going back to school if you are interested in this.

Do I ever get bored? I have not been there long enough. I have been there about a year but I also do other projects on behalf of my OR for the Health System that I work for. I do not know if you can ever really get too bored as you are constantly getting new employees to train, new surgeons, new ways to do procedures and every case is a little different.

I work in ICU.

At least I get to sit down now and then in ICU. I remember all the standing I did in OR rotations in school.

I looked at OR after my first year of med-surg. The hospital required a 2 year commitment after accepting an OR job, so I didn't apply.

I have not regretted ICU. I have learned so many skills that are transferrable to other areas. If I wanted to switch to PACU or ER, my ICU skills would be essential.
