Optional NS Books - help me decide.

I just got my book list for the fall and I have five optional books on it. I wanted to see if anyone else used them and if they helped you or were a waste of money. Please weigh in on the following:

  • Med Surg Nursing (clinical companion) Dirksen
  • How to Survive & Maybe even love NS Dunham
  • Techniques in Clinical Nursing Kozier
  • RN Notes: Nurse's Clinical Pocket Guide Myers
  • Test Success... Beginning Nursing Students Myers

The reason I am asking is, since books are uber expensive as it is, if these are optional and perhaps not helpful, I'd rather save the money. All added they equal $195 for all five. If they really help me, that's a small price to pay for success in NS. As it stands right now just looking at the list I will get the Test Success one for sure. So please tell me what you think. :o)

I am entering semester 4 of 5 and had to buy the Techniques book. I have opened it probably 1 time each semester-MAX! I think "Fundamentals Success" is the best book for getting you ready for tricky nursing test questions-hands down.

I have the RN Notes, IV Notes, Lab Notes, and Psych Notes. I love all of them, they are excellent pocket references!!!!!!!!!!!
