Opinions on SJSU,CSUS & CSU East Bay

Published

Hello all,

I am applying to San Jose State's nursing program, as well as Sac State and CSU East Bay for Fall 2012. I currently live in San Jose so I am especially interested to hear what students have to say about SJSU's program and CSU East Bay. I have a 4.0 GPA but I have not yet taken the TEAS. Of course, I will go wherever I am accepted, but if I have a choice I would like to make the most informed decision.

I would also like to confirm if CSU East Bay is 2 or 3 years.

I greatly appreciate any input.

Thank you

You know, I was looking at SJ's admission requirements. I found out that you can't have any prereqs in progress when you apply. I thought that was weird so I called the school & they really do not look at your application unless all your prereqs are done. I'm applying for fall 2012 and will have physio in progress in spring 2012 so I am unable to apply for the program. Hopefully you have all yours done! Good Luck! =)

I graduated from the Sac State Nursing Program. I encourage you to attend the program near where you think you would like to work after graduation...especially if it is a hospital. I don't know where or how the clinical rotations are done at CSU East Bay or San Jose but at Sac State several of my classmates were able to find employment at the hospitals where they precepted during last semester. Obviously not a guarantee of employment but a better chance. Good luck on your decision.

Hi Everyone,

I'm applying to SJSUs nursing school this month (deadline is Oct 1). My impaction score is 10.7. I know the cutoffs for last semester were 9.7 but I'm still really scared. I the cutoffs are always in the 10.01-10.1 range, but I guess I'm just being paranoid. What do you guys think? Do you guys know/are applying to SJSU as well?

Also for those worrying about the TEAS 5, it's really not that bad. I got an 86 and I just looked through the science section of the book. In fact, it was my highest score (science). I wish I brushed up on the reading/english sections from the book so I would have been a bit familiar with the types of question, because they were easy but I was just going through them fast during the test. Anyways, good luck to all of you!

chloety800: SJSU & CSUS are good choices. THey have pretty high passrates for NCLEX (above 90%). I'm not too sure on CSUEB. Also if you live in SJ, you should probably stay here if you have the chance so you can save $$.

CSUEB is eight quarters long.

If you go to Hayward campus, you have classes in Fall/Winter/Spring - Fall/Winter/Spring - Fall/Winter. So you graduate in March of your third year.

If you go to Concord, you don't get two Summer breaks, you only get one and you have to do classes the second Summer - F/W/S - F/W/S-S/F so you finish three months earlier than the Hayward campus.

I really like my program. I go to CSUEB.
