I live in lovely sunny HOT :angryfire Louisiana. I'm wondering if it's ok to wear a nice capri pants set to a job interview. I've recently lost weight and my other interview clothes are too big. I don't have a lot of money right now to spend on this so I was thinking why not get something I can wear for more than one occasion. I found a linen/rayon blend pants with a matching shirt. I'm from the old school where you dress up for interviews, etc. Any opinions would be appreciated. Also what did you wear to your interview?
Thanks.

I always dress very conservatively. If you lost weight then check thrift stores for all the stuff donated by those who gained weight. You can probably find just the thing. IMO, better to err on the conservative side when interviewing.

ITA. I'm newly RN'd and getting ready to interview this Friday. I plan to wear the one suit I can still fit into from my days at a full service financial brokerage house. It's a few years old, but is conservative enough for an interview. If I didn't have that, I would make a trip to the upscale resale shops in my area to find something like it. I live in the extreme South and sympathize with the heat issue, but IMHO one should wear their "Sunday Best" whether applying for a job at Rally's or for a CEO job at a bank.
Good luck to ya on your interview! Be honest, be confident...Shine on!

I agree, Capri pants are not considered professional for an interview. I'm in Texas, I can sympathize with you concerning the heat.
Congratulation on the weight loss and good luck with the interview.

Don't forget the iron! A nice crease makes a good impression of attentiveness to detail and neatness. :)

I doubt anyone has ever lost out on a job because they were overdressed for the interview, but I've seen plenty of situations where people lost out because they were underdressed for the interview, and just didn't make as good an impression as other candidates.
You want to look like you take yourself seriously as a responsible professional, and that you take the job and the interviewer seriously. I'm having a hard time picturing a capri pants set that would communicate that to the interviewer.
Congratulations on the weight loss, though! :balloons: Best wishes!
If it's a hot day, what about a nice skirt?
