Opinion on TEAS scores..TCC and Weatherford

U.S.A. Utah

Published

Hi all!

I am currently in the application process for Weatherford and TCC. My GPA for TCC is at 3.7 (3 A's, and one B in sciences), and I have completed the bonus Medical Terminology course. My overall score on the TEAS is 85%. For WC, I am currently at 21 points. However, I scored a 67% on the science portion of the TEAS. Do you all think this will hurt me since I did well on the other portions? I do know science weighs pretty heavily. What do you all think? In need of a little encouragement:cry:

I dont have an answer for you - but I sure hope someone does b/c all the info you just posted was VERY similar to where I'm at. I'm applying at both TCC & WC. My GPA is a 3.6 & I've completed the Med Term class. My TEAS score is an 81 (though I will be re-taking it on Monday morning). I scored a 63% on the science. I've also got 21 points for WC. I have checked and at WC, you are allowed to take the TEAS 2 times within a 6 month period, you just have to wait 7 days in between taking it again. I took it this past Monday, not happy with my scores, so thats why I am retaking it next Monday. And WC will accept the highest attempt, not the last attempt like TCC does.

From what I gather, (at WC anyway), its ALL about the score, the 21 points. I was told that 21 points gives you a fair shot, but 23 points almost guarantees you will get in. But dont let that discourage you! It all depends on how many applicants there are, and you have to remember that lots of applicants apply to several schools. So just b/c they are accepted by WC, doesnt mean they will take it. A 21-point-person has a very good shot at getting in as an alternate. :) Keep your chin up and think positive thoughts.

Stacy girl. my GPA and TEAS looked very similar to you. I applied in the spring to WC and TCC. I had 21 points at WC and did not make the cut. I applied to TCC and was #3 on the Alt list. I was picked off the list and start on Monday in the program. Keep your head up. I was so sure I was not going to make it into the program but I did.

The only pre-req I havent taken is English 2. TCC requires Eng 2, but WC doesnt. I wonder if I'll even have a shot at TCC b/c of this?

probaly not. TCC has the new rule out that all of your pre-reqs has to be completed prior to applying. to my understanding the only thing you do have to have completed is PE.

I'm out at TCC anyways b/c I've taken some classes 3 times - they will only look at the highest of the 1st 2 times you've taken a class - even if 1 of the first 2 times you withdrew. The 'W' is counted as 1 change. UGH!!
