I have an interview for a care coordination RN/Case Mgr job with a major insurance company. Honestly, I have no experience in case mgmt and the job description describes contacting members via phone to id risks for readmission to hospital. I wondered if anyone else has worked this kind of job or knows more what to expect. I was surprised they called for the first interview and now I have a second one scheduled next week. The hours are great and the pay adequate especially with limited experience. Is it too good to be true?
congratulations!!!! you must be so excited!!!
i'm not sure of what books to recommend since i don't do a lot of work in the inpt side. i would suggest checking the nursing spectrum website...they have a lot of articles dealing with case management and inpt reviews. try checking with your new hr department....maybe they offer unlimited access to their employees? maybe others will have some suggestions as well.
good luck and let us know how it goes...
I am now doing a similar job, perhaps for the same company, as I have seen openings posted on the web for them in your area!!
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE my job!! TEN THOUSAND percent LESS stressful than hospital or LTC nursing.
I have a life, I can see my grandchildren in the evenings. I can go out to dinner which I couldn't do working 12 hr shifts and commuting 2 hrs a day.
The pay here is good, the atmosphere is unbelievably calm, and the benefits are okay (thought they'd be better than they are). I have urged everyone I know to try to come to work here!!!
If you get hired, I know you will be happy.:biggringi

Hello
I got the job offer! I'm due to start in a few weeks. I'm pretty hopeful that this job works out well.
Can anyone recommend any good books I could read to prepare?
