No OT (OR as we call it in the US) experience in my BSN program, but I had a day of it working on my ADN (associate's--2 year degree.) My role was to observe. Oh and I had to ask the anesthesiologist what drugs they gave during the procedures and do a post-clinical info sheet for each drug.
But like I said in my other post, my program won't tell you what you need to know for yours. Ask your instructors if you have confusion.
Oh, and write a short paper describing the roles of the CRNA, scrub nurse, and circulating nurse.

It really depends on what your school expects and what the facility permits. My facility only permits observation as the policy states that certain duties must be done by an RN (not even those who have graduated nursing school but have yet to take NCLEX are permitted to do these tasks). You may want to head over to the OR forum- there is a sticky I believe about observing in the OR that you may find helpful.

Our main role was to observe but we were allowed to do anything we could do in clinical, i.e. insert foleys, etc. We also had a short writing assignment to turn in after the experience.

You're very welcome. :) That looks like a good thread that Rose_Queen posted, too!
