OR brain sheet

Specialties Operating Room

I know this has probably been posted before... but I am a new grad starting in the OR and was wondering if anyone has a brain sheet or check off list.

Specializes in OR, Nursing Professional Development.

Preference cards will be your best friend in the OR. Everything you need to know about equipment that is needed, supplies to have available, and everything else should be on it.

Beyond that, all I ever carried with me was a list of commonly called phone numbers.

Check out out some of the threads under the articles tabs and FAQs tab in the OR forum, including the Tips for New Operating Room Nurses. Lots of different experiences and tips to be found there.

every hospital, surgery center, etc. runs a different system in the OR regarding instruments, supplies, and documentation. so i dont think other people's lists would necessarily help you. Also our preference sheets stink where I work, nothing ever gets updated, MD always changing their mind kinda of thing. what ive seen most people do is write themselves little cheat sheets for different cases...like at the end of the day if you worked with Dr X doing a total knee, write down little tips from that case and keep a small notebook with you so next time you're with Dr X on a total knee, you can reference it.

I've got one...email me at [email protected] and I'll send...

i've sent you an email
