Have any of you ever been on the surgical team for a major procedure on a coworker? I will be scrubbing on a CABGx5 on one of our surgical techs next week. I am confident that we are the right team for her, but just need to remain objective...

Yes, it happens at times due to the fact that many insurers make you pay more if you go where you don't work. On my coworkers, I've personally done a perirectal abscess, a laparoscopic colon resection, 2 or 3 appys, and a CABG. Several coworkers (not me personally) were involved in the trauma resuscitation/laparotomy/sternotomy/thoracotomy on one of our own that sadly was not successful.

So sorry to hear this. Be assured that you and your team gave your best and had her/his best interests at heart.
