Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

That's amazing! But I believe Nipissing takes your best 20 courses from all of your undergraduate years, not just the last 20.

I'm thinking of applying there next year if I don't get in this year to the schools I applied to. I didn't know about the program before. But on their site it says they calculate your average on your best 10 full courses.

Hi guys! I have a question regarding credits.

I took/taking:

Fall 2020: 4 courses

Winter 2020: 4 courses

Spring 2021 (currently): 4 courses

Fall 2021: 5 courses

(all 0.5 credits each)

That is 17 courses within 4 terms.

My first year, I only took 5 courses first semester & 3 the second semester.

Will they take the last 3 credits from my first year? whichever ones are most recent on my transcript? I am applying to Mac and York btw, not sure if some schools view credits differently.

Does anyone have any insight regarding UBC vs McMaster accelerated nursing programs? I’m looking to choose somewhere where I can maximize my clinical hours and eventually get a job in Toronto but I’m not sure which school would be the best option.
Any advice would be helpful!

They will basically count backwards and take the most recent courses!

Does anyone know if UofT is still sending out acceptances or is it rejections and waitlists from now until the 30th?

Hey guys, this morning, I sent an email to Trent admissions because I was worried about my pending status as it is mid-June. This afternoon, I got accepted to the compressed stream. It may have just been a huge coincidence, but I highly urge anyone who is still waiting to send them an email, as there is a chance they could have missed your application.

In case anyone is wondering, my third year GPA was quite mediocre at 3.17 but my fourth year GPA was 3.82. Keep your hopes up!

Best of luck to everyone ?

Hello, I was wondering who exactly you emailed? admissions? if so, do you mind sending the email address. I have emailed before and received no response

I emailed [email protected] but I didn't get an email directly responding to my inquiry either.

I also emailed them, but they haven't replied yet.

Hey everyone, quick question re the First Aid training. I was too excited and I booked mine for this weekend already. I will be away most of July and August so I wanted to get it done early.

I just read that some schools would prefer the training to be done later in the Summer. I'm going to Nipissing and unfortunately admissions is taking long to respond and I have to make a decision ASAP.

Should I rebook mine? It's $75 to rebook and I can only do the training when I come back last week of August. Please advise, thanks!

I would rebook it because CPR certifications expire each year, so you don't want your certification to be expiring next year July while you need it during clinics. Otherwise, you'd you have to redo your CPR certification next year July while you're in school + clinicals

Hey guys ill be declining York (if anybody is still waiting) for Humber/UNB program
