Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

My exact thoughts! I don't understand why they keep us pending this long. Plus some people who were denied from Mac later gots acceptances. I don't know what to expect.

I’ve also been very frustrated seeing this too. I would suggest you contact the applicant student services department via the online chat portal and ask for an update on your application. I did this earlier this week and she said my application was still under consideration, however to reach out to her again next week if I don’t hear an answer by the end of the week and she would then personally contact the admissions committee.

Does anyone else's Western account still say applied? I find it weird that others have been accepted, rejected, and waitlisted, but mine still just says applied.

Western said that students should hear back by June 15. If you haven't heard back by that point, you need to contact admissions.

For anyone who recently accepted an offer to Western - have you received any further information yet? I accepted 3 or 4 days ago and am excited to figure out any next steps!

Nope, no further instructions at this time. There is a facebook group for Western CTF Nursing if you want to join as well. Some people have started to look for accommodations.

Hey guys, this morning, I sent an email to Trent admissions because I was worried about my pending status as it is mid-June. This afternoon, I got accepted to the compressed stream. It may have just been a huge coincidence, but I highly urge anyone who is still waiting to send them an email, as there is a chance they could have missed your application.

In case anyone is wondering, my third year GPA was quite mediocre at 3.17 but my fourth year GPA was 3.82. Keep your hopes up!

Best of luck to everyone :)

What did you ask in your email? I messaged them 3 weeks ago and they said I should be hearing from them soon but my status is still pending. I don't want to keep hassling them so I'm not sure what to say LOL

I told them that their lack of response made me worry if my application had any technical or logistical issues, and asked them if they could update my status. I also sent them my OUAC ref # and Trent email just to be safe. It was honestly just a short email.

Would anyone like to get together for a BLS provider course in July in downtown Toronto? I have a course instructor I’ve used numerous times at UHN who is willing to run the course publicly (in a park, etc). Prices depend on the group size so figured I’d see if anyone was interested.

Has anyone heard from Western today or yesterday? I heard today is the last day for a response??

I just got waitlisted. Does anyone know how to gauge your likeliness of getting an offer? Or is the only choice to sit and wait?

Hey,

did your portal update to waitlisted just recently?

I believe so but it could have been earlier in the day I'm not 100% sure.

Thank you for the info! I wish you the best of luck in getting off the waitlist. I heard western git access to more seating so that’s great news?

not to be intrusive, but do you mind telling me what was your GPA for the last 10.0 courses in the past 2 yrs? I really appreciate it?
