Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

SAME. All of my transcript took awhile to be sent from different schools (took LOP courses) and my high school requirement had to be manually edited by the admissions staff to be eligible and they just confirmed last week. I saw on previous humber stats though that around 10-20 people don’t end up enrolling, so there’s still hope ?

Well that's great to hear ! Here's to hoping we both get some good news. The admissions officer did tell me I could hear back as late as September.

Got accepted to York, McMaster and Western! I'm still unsure where to go. York was my top choice since I would want to work and be placed at a GTA hospital but I know Mac and Western have such amazing programs too. I go to York too so I'd have to move and start all over at a different university. Is there anyone that accepted York that could give me further insight as to why they choose the program?

Does Western let you know your position in the waitlist?

Wondering this too!

Specializes in Health Sciences and Chemistry.

Hey everyone,

The news says that Ontario got more funding for RPN and RN programs, so I think all programs have funding for additional seats. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure all of the programs have more seats now! (This probably goes into effect for the Sept 2021 intake since someone previously said that McMaster is accepting more students because they got more funding! Fingers crossed!!

Does anyone know when is the last day for McMaster to send out offers ?

Not they don't! People could essentially be waiting until the few weeks before class for moving off the waitlist if it doesn't fill, but you never get to know your spot.

From the website: “Admission decisions are issued from April to June typically. All applicants will be notified via email no later than June 30.” https://nursing.mcmaster.ca/prospective-students/admission

Hey everyone,

Congrats on any acceptances already!

I am wondering what the % cutoff average may have been for western this round?

Congratulations! If you ended up accepting the offer, have you received a final offer yet? If you have, how long did you take to receive it after you sent your final transcript?

I got a conditional offer back in April and I sent my final transcript about 3 weeks ago, but I'm still waiting for an update.

I did accept the offer back in February because it was the only place I'd gotten into at the time but I'm about to turn it down since I just got an offer from Mac on Saturday! I sent my final transcript at the end of April and my to do list changed to completed a few days later. I don't believe they send you a letter with a final offer (from my knowledge). Just as long as your transcript shows the minimum grade requirements to keep your conditions, then your offer still stands. I heard they don't send any info about further steps until June because that's when they have more of a finalized class.

Hey! Congratulations on your offer! How did you send in your final transcript? Did you upload on Mosaic? I uploaded mine myself on Mosaic at the end of April but my application still says incomplete. When I uploaded my transcript the portal that it took about 4 weeks of processing time to be processed. Just wondering if the same thing happened to you!

Oh sorry I was talking about Queens with regards to uploading my final transcript! As for Mac, I'm an internal transfer so I didn't need to upload my final transcript from this past semester since they already have it. Sorry I can't help more!

Hey everyone, has anyone who was put on Queen's waitlist been accepted? I've been on the waitlist since early April and still haven't heard anything....
