Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

World Canada CA Programs

Published

I'm applying to the second entry nursing program in February 2018 for Fall 2018 admission. I'm applying to York, Humber, Trent, Nipissing and potentially Western. I'll be applying with a BA in psych. This is probably super premature, but I wanted some reassurance from fellow applicants. I also wanted to know if anyone, past or previous applicants, know the weighting of Additional Information forms and how they're considered during the application process? I was diagnosed with ADHD during my second year of university, after being misdiagnosed two previous times, and it's certainly had an impact on my grades. My GPA is going to be something like 6.7 on a 9.0 scale. And this really has me worried. Has anyone else had any experiences with Add. Forms?

Good luck to all!

I'm still on the waitlist at Western, I haven't gotten any updates. I'm slowly losing hope, the waiting is killing me!

I just got in off the Western waitlist today with an 82.7 average for last two years. Hope that helps you out!

Congratulations!!!! This actually gave me some hope!!! Are you accepting?

I don't want to get my hopes up but I finished with an 82 in my last 2 years... Crossing my fingers for the uwo waitlist, good luck everyone

Has anyone heard from Western in regards to paying a deposit or anything?

I haven't yet! I was wondering about that because I believe for McMaster, you have to pay $500.

Hey guys! I'm not sure if this has come up already but I was rejected from western early on. But today I got an email asking if I wanted to be placed on the waitlist. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, does accepting the waitlist conflict with my current offer that I've already accepted at York?

I accepted my waitlist and it didn't affect my McMaster offer, you're fine:)

Congrats! I'll be applying there this upcoming school year and just had a few questions. Do they just look at your last 10.0 credits, so if I completed my pre-requisites prior to those 10.0 credits, they wouldn't count? Also, am I able to apply in my second year or do the 10.0 credits need to have been completed prior to applying?

I don't think there's a deposit to be paid, but I called last week and the tuition is due around August 5th I think, I'm not sure how it works with OSAP. Apparently we can expect detailed orientation information this week or next, so look out for that

For most schools, they only look at your most recent 10.0 credits (it should be outlined in their admission requirements page). The pre-requisites absolutely count and they are included in your 10.0 credits. I think for some schools, there is an expiry date for the pre-requisites courses (I've seen 7 years for some, like stats, and 4 years for physiology & anatomy), so just be mindful of that. If you have specific questions, don't hesitate to email/call the admissions office to the schools you are applying to; I'm sure your questions are pretty routine to them and will take no time at all to answer them. As for your last question, from what I understand, you need to have completed 10.0 credits (I could be wrong on this). But definitely contact schools; it would be unfortunate to waste money applying if you don't have what they want yet. Good luck!

Thank you so much! I'm a little confused about the pre-reqs. If I complete them in my first year but don't apply until my fourth year, then they wouldn't be part of my ten most recently completed credits. So do you just need to ensure you receive a mark that the school requires or are they counted in the 10.0 credits no matter what? I'll definitely call for info around the time I apply, just trying to get some info early!
