Anyone applying to NP school in Ontario for the year 2025?
Would love to have a discussion started for acceptances, etc.
Just received offer of admission for UofT! I have until April 7 to confirm. If anyone has any insights from others who have completed their NP at either UofT or TMU that would be greatly appreciated. I have heard that TMU has a strong emphasis on community hence their placements may align with that and LTC. UofT has already indicated that they are transitioning to single NP stream whereas TMU has not announced the transition and are still following primary health care model.

What's the difference between single stream vs PHC model?

Congrats!! 😃

1. Single Stream Model
A more general NP education model that allows for a broad range of practice.
May include multiple specializations within a single program (e.g., Family NP, Adult-Gerontology NP, Pediatric NP).
Graduates can choose a variety of settings to work in, including primary care, acute care, and specialty care.
Some programs allow students to select a specialty later in the program.
2. Primary Health Care (PHC) Model
Focuses specifically on primary care, preventive care, and managing chronic diseases.
Prepares NPs to work in community clinics, family health teams, and rural or underserved areas.
Emphasizes holistic, patient-centered care and continuity of care.

thank you for the explanation! Do you know if U of T is the only school that's single stream? I also applied to UOttawa and YorkÂ
