Hello Sir/Madam,
I have few questions regarding nursing assessment for LPN in Ontario.
Can i do my educational assessment through CNO (College of Nurses of Ontario)? or do i need to go NNAS?
Can i seat for my LPN exam once my educational assessment done (except only IELTS) ?

If you are an IEN you must go through NNAS first then once the assessment is complete you apply to CNO for consideration to become an RPN (registered practical nurse) by examination. You need to review NNAS requirements as to whether they will complete your assessment without submitting a valid IELTS score that meets/exceeds the minimum standard (IELTS academic version)
You must prove English language competency as a part of the NNAS assessment. You cannot apply to CNO until the NNAS assessment is done. You cannot sit for the CRPNE until CNO approves your application. So you cannot take the CRPNE before passing IELTS.

You may not need to complete IELTS, according to CNO, other types of evidence that show language proficiency, such as additional education that was in English, or work experience as personal support worker or employee at a restaurant are acceptable.
Hi Dishes,
Can i do my assessment via CNO instead of NNAS ? if not so NNAS has require to give IELTS first ?
Advise me, what steps should i take to do my assessment ? as i can show my english proficiency evidence that all the course i had studied in english.

All IEN have to go through NNAS before applying to the provincial college
Suggest you read CNO FAQ regarding NNAS, it says:
You must contact the NNAS directly to begin the process of applying to the College. The NNAS will assess your educational credentials and determine any language proficiency testing that may be required.
I don't know if the fact you studied in English will be considered proof of Language proficiency, I think it might be. The rules are new and we haven't seen anyone post about their NNAS results, so the only thing I know, is that you must be assessed through NNAS first and NNAS will tell you if IELTS are required after they assess you.
Your application will be rejected by CNO if you submit without going through NNAS first.
NNAS will notify you if required to prove English proficiency. So you can submit your credentials to NNAS without IELTS and wait. No sense paying for IELTS if it's later determined you don't need it.
SK, I had to laugh when I saw how many times we repeated our advice to apply to NNAS first, talk about overkill... anyways, I hope when your assessment is done, you will come back and let us know your results. Wishing you good luck.
Hi All,
Thanks, once i register for NNAS do i need to inform CNO that i register for NNAS ?
Not that I am aware of. You just need to submit application once NNAS is complete. Just check with the instructions on both websites
No, you wait until you receive your advisory report from NNAS. After you have received your advisory report, you will receive instructions about how you can register with the CNO. Have a look at CNO's website, the step by step instructions are on CNO FAQ National Nursing Assessment Service.
SK do you live in Ontario? in Toronto/GTA area? If so, there are organizations such as Gateway for Internationally Educated Nurses and Centre For Internationally Educated Nurses, they can help guide you with the process of becoming a nurse in Ontario. Suggest you have a look at their websites to find out about the services they provide to IENs.
I live in Nova Soctia and plan to live in ontario once i get my license. right now i register NNAS first and academic Ielts preparation.
do i need to submit IELTS with my NNAS registration?
do you know any LPN exam preparation guide books or online stuff ?
