Ontario BScN Accelerated Program Fall 2022

Updated:   Published

Hello future nursing students,

I just wanted to make a post as we enter the new academic year, and more importantly the next admission cycle. Hopefully through this post we can all share our admission experiences, concerns, and achievements.

To begin with, I am currently a University of Toronto student completing my final year! I am hoping to apply to UBC, UofT, Nipissing, Western, and Trent. Just waiting on applications to open up! I am slightly worried I may not get in because admission is so competitive, and seeing those with 3.9+ not get in can be very scary.

How about you? Are you excited for the new school year? Any concerns for the admission process? Let's get through this together

Hey everyone, on the supplemental form for Nipissing SPP I indicated that my preferred location would be at SickKids. However, I recently changed my mind and would rather my location be at UHN. Does anyone know 1) what the location preference is for (does that mean majority of your clinical practice is at that location?) and 2) if it's possible to change your mind later? ?

I applied to SPP too. I think all of the clinical placements are at your assigned hospital with the exception of 1. In which sick kids nursing students would go to adult care and UHN nursing students would have their paediatric placement. I would email them, it wouldn’t affect your admissions so they may be able to change it for you. I don’t see why not

Hey, what made you change your mind? I said SickKids as well but now I am second-guessing

For me, I thought I would want to do paediatrics ... until I started volunteering at SickKids in the fall haha. I like the hospital itself of course but I'm feeling more sure that I want to do adult nursing now, which means SickKids won't be helpful for my career.

I am currently in my final year of the SPP. Feel free to PM if you have any questions.Good luck to you all ?

When do Western and Mac usually send out offers?

Not sure about Mac but I think Western sends out a few offers around early March (when the last round of CASPer results come in) and then the rest around April/May. If I'm not mistaken, the last CASPer test was March 1st so they might be sending some early offers out next week!

Hey guys, does anybody know when Trent, queens and UofT begin sending out offers?

I think the first round of acceptances for UofT are sent out first week of April

Does anyone know when Nipissing SPP starts sending out admissions? They emailed me last week that they were reviewing my application (because they needed clarification on something) so hopefully it should be soon?

It says April 2022, but last year the process got delayed and they weren't sent out till May.

Does anyone have any information on when schools (U of T, Nipissing, York, Western) are expecting the final transcript for courses in progress? I am currently in a self-guided prerequisite and want to ensure I will be finished before a cut off. Thanks!
