Ontario- Best Schools for BScN Collab program??

hi!

i was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on georgian, humber (north campus), or seneca (king campus) for the bscn program. i am currently at georgian in pre-health and i have applied to the three colleges listed for september start. i'm fairly confident i will be accepted (fingers crossed!) into at least one as i had an 87% avg last semester. i would really like to go to georgian as it is the shortest commute for me, and i'm already familiar with the campus and such. i know i probably shouldn't pick a school based on location, but it's necessary because i can't just up and move wherever i want. if anyone has studied at either of the 3 colleges i would love your opinions on the staff and the campus! also, if there is a college you attended that would be completely worth a longer commute let me know!

thanks:)

Hey

I go to UOIT in Oshawa and its linked with Georgian in fact my pathophysiology class is shared with Georgian students and it seems like a great program from what I have heard on the discussion boards from them and from our prof

I know that Georgian and Seneca both end up at York, But Humber's program is a collab with University of New Brunswick, so all 4 years are done AT Humber. It seems as though there are less courses to to as compared to the other two as well. Has anyone attended either of these Colleges, and/or have an opinion on the program? How about York, whats it like there?

I went to Ryerson. Great program and instructors compared with some of the others. Apparently, Ryerson also for a long time had one of the higher success rates with the CRNE. I also saw what York was offering in their last year for clinical assignments, because I knew one of the students, and I wasn't impressed. But, that's my opinion. I have also heard that Oshawa is a good school.

I went to Georgian in Barrie and finished the 3rd & 4th year at York. While I loved Georgian (teachers were great and very hands on) York was a nightmare and I wouldn't recommend the school to anybody. However I know that Georgian is working on the new Health and Wellness center so maybe by the 3rd year of the program you would be lucky enough to stay in Barrie at the campus.

What did you not like about York if you don't mind me asking? I've heard that from a few other people as well.

I am a practical nursing student, but I attend Seneca college. I have to say that its terrible. I have also heard this from students in the BScN.

The practice lab is terrible. Equipment is old, and sometimes even broken. There isn't enough of it either. I have had to learn skills in groups of 5, sometimes 6 people, taking turns to practice. Sometimes you don't get a chance at all.

I am really disappoointed with it.

Also, parking is terrible, you will be lucky to get a spot, without having to wait until someone leaves, and the library is ridiculous. Its a hangout, as opposed to a place to study. Silence is not enforced. Good luck finding a place to study or a computer to work at.

There are just too many students, and not enough resources.

How are you finding the program at Seneca. I going in September and taking the practical nursing. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

The collaborative program at Loyalist-Brock is amazing! The staff and courses are great! I'm going into my second year this fall and simply cannot wait! It's a fantastic program and I'd highly recommend it! :)

I'm planning to attend Loyalist for that program next year. I'd like to get ahead on some reading while I'm waiting and was wondering if anyone could tell me which text books are the most useful in the first year.

If you want to start preparing for school I recommend you read Career Development for Health Professionals, In School and On The Job, by Lee Haroun.

As far as reviewing textbooks, check the Loyalist online bookstore for current course textbooks, keep in mind that if you buy a textbook ahead of time it may no longer be the required textbook by the time you are in the program.

However, some courses such as anatomy and physiology have used the same textbook for many years, these text books are updated frequently and usually it is preferable to have the most recent edition when you are taking a course.
