I am from Canada, but I believe this applies to any part of the world where someone moved from an advanced program such as RN to a less advanced program such as RPN, LPN or whatever it may be.

I am almost complete my first year in the BSCN program, but I am unable to finish the 4yr program. I have been thinking of switching to an RPN college program but I am wondering if the program would be shorter than the 2yrs because of my 1yr in the university program. Has anyone done this or know of someone who did?
  3. Before I got into nursing school my grades were between 85% and 90% in college, now that I'm in nursing school (university) I've dropped to a 70%. I'm finding that it's a much different way of learning and the work load is much heavier. I don't know how well other people in the program are doing, I only know the median marks which are where my grades land. I had a teacher tell me that a 71% on my paper was a good mark... I don't know... but I guess it's all good as long as I'm passing. I just hope it gets easier as I get further into the program, this is only my first semester after all.
  4. I've been having trouble with my first semester, and I'm hoping that it gets better. There's just so many assignments, group presentations and exams that I feel totally overwhelmed. This week I have two midterms and a paper due, Next week I have a paper, a group presentation, a math test and a midterm. I don't feel like I have enough time in a day, plus, I'm not sure how everyone else is doing in the program, but I have an average of 70% and I'm worried that if this workload continues into next semester and the following years that I may not make it.
  5. I contacted UOIT about the possibility of being accepted and it dosn't look good. The required average is 85%+ and I have an 83%. Also, they will not consider my Biology upgrade because it will not be completed until after May. Oh well. My main reason for wanting to attend UOIT was for location anyway, not for the school itself. That laptop fee is ridiculous.
  6. I'm a military wife and I've just been accepted into Nursing School for September 2012. I'm a bit nervous about going back to school, but also excited to finally be on my way to getting a real career.
  7. Got my letter from Loyalist today and I've been accepted into the 4yr collaborative Nursing Program, however I did not get into the Practical Nursing program... which was supposed to be my fall back. I found that weird. I have not heard back from UOIT, Queen's, or Durham College yet. I'm also taking a Biology upgrade but that class wont be complete until summer. From what I've heard, the schools should consider the upgraded mark once I've completed it.
  8. I'm planning to attend Loyalist for that program next year. I'd like to get ahead on some reading while I'm waiting and was wondering if anyone could tell me which text books are the most useful in the first year.
  9. I applied to the collaborative RPN program for September 2011 and have not heard back from UOIT yet. I did get a call from a nursing student about a month ago, but that was just to talk about the program and had nothing to do with acceptance.
