what online program should I take? Lpn to Rn

Published

I just graduated six months ago as an LPN and am thinking about going back for my RN. I am working full time and would like to take an online program. Had anyone done this or have any advice to give me?

You will still need to do clinical practicums - so it won't be 100% online. I would advise you to bridge to a BSN rather than ADN because although your LPN experience is valuable, it won't be sufficient to get you past the "experience required" hurdle to obtain an RN job in many organizations. Take the time to shop around and don't be an easy target for slick recruiters that try to sell you on those expensive commercial schools.

Best of luck to you!!

Thanks for the advice! Have you heard anything about the excelsior program? They have a practicum but I'd have to go to Georgia for it. It actually seems like I'd have to take more classes. If I go back to the school I graduated from, I'd only need three semesters, however it's so intense that I wouldn't be able to work full time and lose my insurance. So many things to consider.
