UCF Summer 2018 Second Degree BSN

Yeah my application says still says "under review". Do you guys know what types of jobs you would recommend having during the program? Unfortunately, i think I'm going to need a flexible if I get into the program.

WOW everybody here is with great statistics. I applied on 3rd but my prerequisites is still not checked. Hopefully they can update it by the end of this week. And I talked to Nursing advisor Jessica before. She said that it is impossible to have a full time job while enroll in this program. As for me, I'm just going to focus on the school if I get admitted into this program. Good luck everyone!

Hello future ucf bsn cohort,

I am in the program and I can offer you just about anything you need information wise about the program. Consider me your liason to the school and faculty if you will. Judgement free zone, and I will answer your questions as I see them (and when I have time). Clinicals this semester are depriving me of much sleep.. but you get through it :)

Good luck to you all, over 300 applicants have applied for the next cohort!! We are becoming a super competitive nursing program.

Hi Lannitis. Thank you for helping us. Over 300 applicants... thats crazy. I'm worried about my chance of getting in now. Out of curiosity, do you have any clinicals during semester break? For example, do you still have clinicals during summer break or winter break? Thanks.

Hi Fiona, as you are planning to be accel students, you are applying to the elite fast paced 15 month BSN! We don't have summers off. You will have long term care clinical and community nursing clinicals this summer if accepted. You will have about a 2 week break from school the beginning of August. You will however, get a month off from school from about Decemeber 7th to January 7th. That's your time to recharge.

You will work hard, you will become a family during it, endure the hard times and enjoy the social aspect of being part of a group of ~66-70 people with the same goal. Hope that helps :) Also, we have a wonderful and caring faculty so long as you are willing to put in the effort to get to know them!

Lanntis, thanks for the explanations. So how do you feel about your clinicals so far? As for the clinicals, Nursing College will assign us to the different locations based on where we live right? Are they most likely to be hospitals or just clinics? Thanks~

fiona, I am a psych person at heart and that's my passion and will start psych clinical later this spring. My second favorite so far has been OB (which completely surprised me). Pediatrics was ok, but is not really my thing. Community Nursing is interesting working with the people out in our communities. Adult 1 (Med Surge 1) and Adult II (which I'm in presently) are the hardest for me because Med Surge settings are my least favorite population. I tend to prefer specialties. Long Term Care is very hard for most students because it is a very depressing setting. You do that clinical in your first semester so that you can start getting your hands dirty, and you learn things about yourself...

As to the clinicals and how they work: You do them in a certain order, 2-3 rotations per semester and the clinical coordinator has agreements with sites all around Orlando. You will have a time period that opens up during each semester when you sign up for available slots in a given site. So you assign yourself. Example: If having a place closer to home is your priority, pick the site closest to home. Or if going to a certain hospital (Florida Hospital or Orlando Health systems) is most important base it off that.

For me, I HATE mornings (and nearly all the clinicals are 6:00-6:45 a.m. start times) so any time there has been a clinical that offers an evening slot (OB, Psych) I jump on it immediately. There are about 8-9 students in each clinical group (total of around class of 66-70 incoming cohort). So never wait to sign up when you are told clinical registration is open, jump on it quickly before a place or time slot you want is full! I hope this helps.

Hi there! I'm also applying and was able to talk to someone in the traditional program, which should be pretty similar. She said that she loves the program overall! Professors are apparently a hit or miss but the administration is easy to work with. She had all good things to say about the program!

Hi everyone! I'm also applying to the program this summer. I wish I had found this thread sooner! It seems like everyone has amazing stats this year! I've got the big green checkmark but my application still says "under review". I'm really looking forward to hearing from them. Good luck to all!

If you go into the details it should tell you what the problem is. Mine was red for a few days when I first applied and it said there was an issue with my readmission application, I was able to get it straightened out so that its green now. Good luck!
