SUNY University at Buffalo ABS 2019 Start

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm starting a post for those who are applying to University at Buffalo's accelerated nursing program with a summer 2019 start! Also, let me know if you have any questions about where you can take your prerequisites.

Hello!

I am applying to ABS program. However, I was told that applying with a undergraduate GPA less than 3.0 is not recommended. However, my prerequisite GPA is well above 3.0. Has anyone gotten accepted stats such as this?

Hi!

I am also applying to the ABS program for summer 2019. My GPA is a little above a 3.0 and my prerequisite is around a 3.6 with all completed. What does everyone else have for stats? Also does anyone have experience in healthcare or a related field?

Hi! Are you already in the program? If so, would you be able to share a little bit about your experience- like your schedule, what the summer sessions were like etc. Also, do you know what the retention rate of this program is, or if mostly everyone you started with is still there? Thanks so much!

hello!

I have applied for the summer 2019 cohort. My undergrad GPA is a 3.2 and pre-resquites GPA is a 3.7. Had two years experience as a nurse aid at a assisted living facility with memory impaired and dementia patients and currently working as an aid at mercy hospital.

Hi! I'm actually not in the program yet. I applied this year though and I am taking the last prerequisite this Fall. Forums from other years have info on individuals' experiences with the program :)

Hi guys!! I'm currently in the ABS program. I know how I was feeling at this point last year, so let me fill you in a bit... there ARE people in my cohort with cumulative GPA's below 3.0, but as long as you show improvement in your prereq's (from your previous degree), that's ok. Summer session is a full time job. You have 12 weeks to your "junior year", one professor calls it nursing boot camp. It's stressful, but it goes fast. You have to be dedicated to the program, I wouldn't suggest working. If you stay focused and make it your #1, you'll be fine. So far, only one person has failed out. Another dropped for medical reasons. This semester has been pretty difficult, so I'm interested to see how many we lose. I hope no one. Pace does slow down in the fall, but don't take it for granted. You have more time, but it's more detailed info and it's a lot to grasp. It's a hard program, but it is doable. I'll try to keep an eye on this thread. If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you.

Has anyone heard anything from admissions? I'm expecting a decision any day now. Will decisions just be released by email?

Hey I haven't heard back from them yet. Did you ask for an update by any chance?

I didn't but I may if we don't hear back in a couple of days. Getting nervous!

So I couldn't wait...called and Julie said decisions will be released via email today or tomorrow

I got in! I am waiting to hear back from another program though but in the meantime I will be accepting admission. How about everyone else?
