Rio Hondo College LVN to RN Bridge Program Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello Everyone! I applied to Rio Hondo's LVN to RN Bridge Program for Spring 2019 and now I'm anxiously waiting for a response from the school. They said we should hear back by November but the suspense is torturous. I wanted to see how many others have applied and what were your stats? Good Luck!

Thank you so much for the "informed delivery" app!! I was wondering on how to check for that when I read it from last year's thread. That's definitely nice to have. Thanks again!

I think ELAC's system is absurd with a "2-3 year wait". No one will wait that long. And not only that, wouldn't the "wait time" become shorter when those people who had applied in the past somehow gets into a different program much sooner? How frustrating is that for both parties to deal with? It's also a shame because I feel that ELAC has the ability to become one of the top nursing program if they choose to be more organized/structured and transparent with applicants.

Anyway, did you take the Reading proficiency test at Rio? I took the test on campus because English 102 didn't count towards it. I also have Statistics and forgot to ask whether it was sufficient enough for their Math proficiency requirements. I hope it is.

Lol, I agree with you on the long wait. I guess the biggest advantage of ELAC is that it's an option for those who did not have high GPAs on their sciences. As long as you passed the classes with "C" they'll take you.

I did take the reading proficiency test at Rio Hondo, it's either that or take and pass their "Reading 023" class. I think a lot of people who got automatically disqualified because they thought having English 101 would suffice. And with your Stat it should definitely fulfill your math requirement. Stat is higher than intermediate algebra, and having finished Stat can score you an additional 5 points at PCC!

any news from RIO HONDO today? Do they have the list of who got in to the program?

hi! any news? the fire class is scheduled on nov 9, they should have been notifying applicants by now. :(

Hi pchairmaine!

I just got off the phone with Rio and they had just sent out the letters of acceptance in today's mail!!

And I confirmed that the fire class is still scheduled for November 9th.

Hopefully we will receive something by tomorrow or Thursday. Good Luck to everyone!

Thanks for replying. I cant keep my hopes high as my standings are not that good. Did they send out emails for the people who didn't got in? I'm so anxious and feels crazy checking my email every 2hours. hahaha! Good luck to you, I hope and pray for positive response. Pls update us here if you get anything. Thank you

I know the feeling! I'm quite anxious too because my TEAS weren't as strong as most of the applicants that I've seen.

According to another thread that I saw - it looks like they have already sent out letters of acceptance to those who qualified for the ADN program first. Then I think they sent out letters to those who qualified for the LVN to RN Bridge second and the ones who made the Alternate list last. As far as an email goes, I believe they notify people who didn't meet the qualifications the following week.

**fingers crossed**

When you said you got off the phone with Rio Hondo... please tell me when they told you they had just sent out the acceptance letters by mail today, they're specifically referring to the LVN - RN program perspective students, right...??

The woman I spoke to was hesitant at first about letters being sent out already but I was persistent and she confirmed that some letters were sent out today but didn't give anymore information. I think they might be processing a few more before the week ends.

I haven't received any notice with the informed app yet. Have you? Hopefully some good news soon.

Me, either.

At this point, I think I'm just gonna focus on applying other schools and hope for the best...

I checked the delivery app this morning and still nothing on my end. I'm also planning to apply elsewhere and see what happens but the week isn't over yet. No news is good news until we receive a confirmation.

Hi mboy_gg,

So I was able to reach someone at Rio this morning and they said they are still working on applicants for the LVN to RN program until this coming Friday. The selection is very small about 10 applicants were chosen for Spring 2019. She also mentioned an email will be sent out by Friday for those who were not selected.

And if mail was sent out yesterday it can take up to 2-3 days to deliver depending on your location. I hope the information above helps ease the anxiety a bit. Good Luck!!
