How many hours a week do you spend studying? I know each school is different, but they have to be set up the same to a certain degree. I'm thinking of applying to the PMHNP program at EKU. While I am 4 wks away of completing my online RN-BSN online through GCU, I feel working towards an NP degree will be completely different online.

If I'm studying 30 hours a week, do you think that two 12 hour shifts are doable? For the first four months, I have to work 40 hours a week. I have a very supportive husband who will be doing all the cooking and cleaning. And since I work in Radiology, we have some down time where people study and do classwork. I guess for the next two years, I will probably be doing something every single day. I can't wait until I can go part-time!

As you know I have not started a program yet but have heard and read a lot of responses from people r/t their work schedules and study time. I think that you will be able to incorporate two 12 hr shifts without a problem. I guess it depends on how your program is set up. While no program is easy to do while working, I feel that the program I will be starting is a bit different compared to a lot of other posters here. I only take one class at a time, each class being 8 weeks. It is more of a part time course compared to what a lot of other people are going through.

I looked at EKU myself, it's very competitive from what my friend said, she had a 3.9 and didn't get in =(

I heard the opposite. The Admissions person told me 90% acceptance. Two of my friends just started. One GPa was 3.5 and the other wasn't quite as high but above 3.0.

WOW really? Hmmmm maybe I should take a look at them then. Their pass rate is phenomenal from what I did read online!!! =) Good luck! do they do provisional acceptance, prior to your degree conferral or do you have to wait until your degree is fully conferred before you can apply?

I'm not sure to be honest. I just finished my bsn this past Sunday and started the application process. What program are you wanting to enter into?

I'd prefer to do FNP

One of my friends just started the FNP at EKU and the other psych :)

What do your friends think of the program so far? I have been looking at EKU but a little nervous about it being completely on-line. I'm back & forth about this approach for me. I think I may feel more confident in classroom environment for the NP portion rather then the "self taught" online style.

If you feel that way then it may not be for you. I know one of them is having a harder time than the other. The class they are in at the moment is very much a learn on your own thing. They have slides and notes provided but you have to pretty much learn it all on your own.
