Hi I am a RN in the state of Georgia. I have a Masters of Public Health (2011) and ADN (2014). I currently work in a SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility) as an Assistant Director of Nursing. I am currently applying to online NP schools for Adult Gerontology Primary Care. I have researched so much to the point of frustration. I just wanted to reach out to ask NPs who have completed their programs to find out are there any schools that set up preceptors. I live in Georgia and would prefer something online. I have also looked into schools in Alabama. I am becoming so discouraged on attending NP school from reading the horror stories on having to find preceptors.

Online schools that find preceptors are rare but there are a few and I go to one. However they really only look for preceptors within a certain area like the Pacific Northwest if the school is in a place like Oregon. Trying to find a school that's in California that would get you a preceptor in Georgia is just not realistic...

It's difficult. I attend an in-state university. The instructors will help you, but it is still the student's responsibility. And even programs that aren't distance learning (in-class) - many of those programs still hold the student responsible for locating preceptors. My advice is to look early on.
I have began looking. I'm just so nervous about it.
