online lpn to rn

Published

I just recieved an email from excelsior and they said once I have 1000 hours worked in another state with my rn that kansas would grant licensure. I'm not sure why Kansas is so stupid about this but I think I'm going to try and do their program. The grads I've talked to are great nurses. I'm a strong believer in the nurse not the school for any program.

Just remember that 1000 hours is a long time. Start canvasing your community colleges to see if any of them are the ones who are looking into providing clinical.

Just make sure you have your eyes open. And I agree about he person not the school. I'm a DON and there have been a few nurses from KU, other big traditional schools that I wouldn't hire if my life depended on it. And I know most of the excelsior grads in KS and they are all good nurses.

Yeah I've mapped it out. I live about an hour drive from kansas city MO and they accept excelsior. It is only 6 months at full time status. Not too bad. I wanted to go to St. Lukes or Truman anyway for ER trauma experience anyway.

Thanks RoxanRN for the link. That is helpful. I'm not sure about which community colleges are considering doing the clinical experience part but maybe I'll call some of them. Thanks for the advice.

Did u do it? I am in the same dilema. I am considering to get into Excelsior College, I currently live in Kansas. If I do it, I will probably work in MO to get my 1000 hrs of RN exp. How did it go with you?
