Has anyone out there actually earned their RN online? Is it accreditted or do employers just look at you funny when you tell how and where you got your degree? Just wondering.

Check out the Distance Learning Forum.
I'm close to completing my RN on-line and no one has blinked. It's valid.

Just make sure the state you want to work in will give you credit for it. In california it is not accepted. They used to accept excelsior but no longer do.
Also check with the state board website and make sure it is a school that is accredited.
Thanks for the info. I keep getting these "get your nursing degree online" e-mails and I just wasn't sure if any of them were for real. Thanks again.

If you are disciplined enough to do an online program- that would be great. As an experianced LPN, I feel like you are at an advantage because the second year RN program just dives deeper into the things you have already learned in your LPN program and in your clinical experiance in that role. That makes things click a little easier, I thought.
I am one of those people who has to be in a classroom with others and a teacher to learn- to have someone hold me accountable. But that is just the way I learn.
Good luck in whatever you decide!

Excelsior has a great reputation and they've been around forever. They are NOT accepted in Cali so keep that in mind. Also PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE contact the College directly BEFORE you sign a contract with RUe College Network Chancellors or the like. Many misunderstand and think that these people offer a degree. They just sell you books to help you get your degree from Excelsior. The college has warnings about theses companies on their website www.Excelsior.edu I love it by the way !!
