Online LPN to RN programs

Published

Hi,I am new to this site. I have been an LPN for 2 years now. I was wondering if anyone has taken any of the online LPN to RN programs, and if so, what the experience was like. Sorry if this question has been posted before :)

No such thing.

I don't think you can do it online, but I know the school I went to first, where I got my associates degree, if you are an LPN, and you get into the program, you don't have to do the first semester, so you would only have to do three semesters rather than all four, which could be very helpful, it may be something to consider?

Go to the students tab and under distance learning page and there is information about the LPN to RN programs online.

There are plenty of online LPN to RN programs. They require clinical hours, so in reality, it is only the theory/lectures/tests that are online.

Under the "students" tab at the top of the page you will find a forum for distance learning, and there you will find information on the online LPN to RN programs.

I completed my RN in this manner.

Really? I have searched high and low for them. Can you suggest some? Preferably in the east coast? :)

My friend is doing a program like this now. They find local clinicals for her to do her rotations at.

I live in Kansas, and the three I am most familiar with are Hutchinson Community College, Neosho County Community College and Pratt Community College, all in Kansas (sorry, it's what I know). I attended Pratt. In our area, most community colleges are going with online options for their second year. Since most programs in this state are bilevel programs, with the first year an LPN year and the second year an RN year, it follows that most LPN completion programs through state community colleges here are either partially or completely online (with the exception of clinicals, of course). I think all of these programs offer a classroom option, but also offer an online tract.

I'd check with your area community colleges. I sincerely doubt that my state community colleges are breaking all boundaries by moving a portion or all of their theory/classroom time to online. I suspect this is the trend in LPN to RN completion, at least at the community college level. Perhaps it has to do with the rural nature of our geographic area, so perhaps you should check with community colleges in less populated areas near you, or those that cater to nontraditional, working students.

What is the name of her college?

Thanks! I am in the New England area. I know that Excelsior has a program and that there are other providers such as College Network,Chancellor,Rue that provide the study guides. There is an intensive clinical that you do at the end of the program. I was just curious if anyone has done or know someone who has done the program through Excelsior. The college that I wanted to apply to gives me credit for the first year of nursing classes....but since all of my science pre-recs are more than 5 yrs old, I have to retake them all.One by one.And it feels like that is going to take forever!! :)
