Hello everyone,
For those of you who had taken the Psyc, Soc courses already, did any of you take them online? if so where? How did you determine if that place was a legitimate institution?
Also, a long shot, but is there a way to take Speech online?

I took nutrition online but it was offered at the community college where I'm taking my other classes.
Honestly, although the class was fairly easy, I really didn't enjoy it as much as the classes I've taken in a class.
One thing I'd encourage you is to limit the number of schools you go to because ordering transcripts is a pain. I'm up to 4 or 5 schools where I order my transcripts and I wish it was fewer.

I agree...look into your local community college or university and see what they have to offer either in class or online. That way, you won't have much trouble figuring out if they are accredited (it will say so on their website which agency is accrediting them). Also, if you are ultimately trying to go to a certain school, figure out what they offer on distance learning. If you have trouble navigating the website to see what they are offering online, just apply to the school (they will probably charge a minimal application fee), and then make an appointment with an advisor. I took psychology, biology, human growth and development, nutrition, and statistics online through my community college. There are a wealth of other things they offer online. I've never looked into speech, though.

I took speech as an online class. How it works is you get assignments from the book, take tests, participate in class discussion, and submit various preliminary work like topic choice and outline all through the internet. Then go in to the campus four times (about every three weeks) to give the speeches.
The institution I took it at is very well known and highly respected in my area so I knew it was legitimate. It is the one I've been taking classes at for the past few years so, sorry, but I don't want to post which it is.
Most of my classmates were locals but a few were from several hours away. Maybe you can look at all the colleges within several hours drive for you. It might be easier to find out about their reputations if they are relatively close to you.
I do agree with the other person who noted that it is a pain to have to get transcripts from multiple colleges (4 in my case, now) every time you apply for something that needs your academic records.
