Online applications-should I also show up at HR?

Published

Hello all, I graduated in May and passed NCLEX on June 16th. I immediately began applying online for RN positions. I visited one HR and was told that I must apply online and it takes approximately 4-6 weeks for recruiter to respond. I went back up to that same HR today, well it is almost 4 weeks, and was told I must wait. I have not applied for a job since 2000. Is this how it is now with applying? I just feel like I should go to HR but I dont want to wear-out my welcome. Any suggestions?-Thanks!

I am in the same boat as you. I have not worked since 2001. Recently graduated my nursing school and waiting to take NCLEX. I have been applying for PCT jobs for over a year now. I have not gotten one call back. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong.

Now I am worried I will get the same with applying for nursing jobs.

Yes, this is how it's done these days. Big employers use a software system called Taleo, so that is where you're sending your resume when you fill out an online application. Someone in HR is in charge of looking through all the resumes that come into Taleo and then calling the ones that may be a fit for the available jobs.
