One of the nice things about working in a school

I was just sitting here thinking how I am in the countdown stages of the school year coming to a close- the excitement in the air among the kids and staff is palpable. Everything just feels a little lighter, a little more fun, slightly more relaxed. Yes, the kids are bouncing off the walls and the teachers have hit their wall, but overall, it is just a happy time. Then we get to all leave for some time and refresh, renew, and reset. I like that with the Fall comes excitement as well. I remember when I worked in the hospital, every day was the same, no matter the time of year. I only had my scheduled paid time off to look forward to. Anyway, just a random thought I had. I like that we get a do-over every school year :)

Agreed, I really am ready in August to come back. I like the rhythm of the school year. But not until I have some down time!!!

Our last day for kids is May 24 - early release. Tomorrow is our last day for state mandated testing; everything goes into, recess, movies, classroom recreation, and general day care mode after that until the last bell tolls for this year...everyone is DONE. God willing, I'll be back, as you say, for a do-over:happy:

I totally agree MHDNURSE! I love how the beginning of the school year feels like a fresh start! And the end of the school year brings closure and a chance for relaxation and renewal. I love the pace of a school year, the lead up to and excitement of the Christmas holidays and Spring Break and the end of the year.

Amen!!

Completely Agree! This job has given me the chance to actually spend the holidays with my family, have a normal sleep schedule and get so much time with my daughter.

School Nursing isn't easy but there are so many rewards to this job!

Field trips galore here, and field day, cookout, slushies...general party mode. Everyone is so ready to be done.

A HS senior asking me if I am going to the prom march...and to be sure to bring my camera because his pic with his prom date will be refrigerator worthy!!!!!!!!!!!!

*sigh* I miss summer vacations as a nurse but next week is my vacation!

I remember being in tears my last year working in the hospital. I had been verbally approved to take off for my kids' spring break, but when the schedule came out, someone else (without kids) had been granted the time off. I didn't have any childcare lined up. Thankfully, some amazing coworkers picked up my days so that I could get that time off.

I am so grateful that I no longer have to fight that fight.

OMG the behavior issues are crazy!! All the kids are out of control!!

Wow...I thought my kids were the only ones. TOTALLY out of control :(

Also, people start ordering out lunch more.

I'm down with that.
