does one need cgfns to register for nclex- pn

hi everybody,

want to know if one needs to write cgfns in other to make her eligible to write the nclex-pn exams as a foreign trained nurse ?

a friend of mine in NJ wrote the exams in 2000 with nj BON but failed. she has decided to write it again. she went to the BON and was told that she needs to write the cgfns exams and toefl before she can register.

Is this right? i have never heard any lpn writing cgfns.

what should she do now. thanx for your replies

First, what type of visa is she currently on? And yes, as a foreign nurse, NJ requires that the nurse have CGFNS certificate, and prrof of English, which is what she would have needed if she went the NJ route to begin with. If she qualified to sit for the NCLEX-RN back then, then that si what she should prepare for now.

Very few foreign nurses sit for PN exams in the US, onl yif they were unable to pass the RB exam, but if they going to prepare for an exam, they shouls go for the RN. She is going to have to revew the same material to pass that exam.
