Hello!

I wanted to drop in and say hello, since I just found out that I got a job as a nurse tech at a large university hospital, on the stem cell transplant unit! I'm soooooo excited but very nervous. I've already been browsing some of the threads here, and learning tons. I've found some good websites for research, too, I'm just trying to learn all I can about this unit since in nursing school I've only been on the med-surg floor.

This area sounds so complex and challenging, but so fascinating! Anyone have any tips/hints/advice for me?

Thanks!

Rose

I have absolutely no knowledge of stem cell transplant nursing, but I wanted to say welcome to the bb!

Hi SRose !

You sound very excited... learning something new always is, isn't it ! I'd say it won't be long before you hear from ResearchRabbit, and others in research here on the BB. Enjoy ! And welcome aboard ! :)

I would like to say that type of nursing sounds very interesting and exciting. Good luck with your career and welcome to this site.

Congratulations on your new job. What does a nurse tech do? Is it like a CNA?

I work on an oncology unit that does autologous stem cell transplants. We are mostly an RN unit, except for 1-2 CNAs per shift. The CNAs check VS, help patients with ADLs & other task oriented things.

Hope you are enjoying your job...lindi
