Maybe we could have this thread for nursing students with special issues to come and vent or ask for suggestions so that we who are there can share and collaborate to find a positive solution or have encouragement, etc.
Those special issues could be:
NS who work FT.
NS who are single parents.
NS who have kids (or kid issues).
NS who have a disability.
We know what we signed up for, but sometimes, it helps to get a hug or words of encouragement without having to get smacked for having these issues. :heartbeat

totally agree with you.
most times when someone vents, they get flamed, express their opinions about their issues, rather than answering the question(s) that the op might had asked.
one good thing we could do is: type venting in progress, encouragement needed-rather than, and if someone doesn't have encouragement words, just don't post. i know it's a public forum, but if the op is asking for a pad on the back give it to them, and if we disagree, let's just respect and not post. that's just my opinion.

I have worked with so many different people that I think this is a very good idea. Thanks be, I got through nursing school without those other life steps and it was hard enough with just me, my (then) 25 year old husband and 2 little dogs.
This website has some really great posts that will lift you up. Just ignore the other ones. There are so many people with these circumstances that I know you will find a kindred spirit!
++Although the final data has not been reviewed, in my study (N=1) this website
may decrease the need for psychiatric intervention.++
TOOO funny Centex! Thanks for the lift me up! I love your "study" results!
I am so grateful that I have class of fellow NS's that left the drama world years ago. We are always there propping each other up and helping each other out. Our 1st 1/2 of this semester ended. Prior to that end, we were anticipating the starting info for the next 8 weeks in adult health I. The teacher did post the syllabus. Great. NO SCHEDULE! WOW! That is a first. All of us kept checking the email for anything specific that we would be expected to do by 1st class.
Well, our classes are on Tues with clinicals on Sat/Sun. Tests have always been scheduled for Monday's.....and when the test is over....we head home.
WELL.....ONE classmate got an email from the instructor that said to be prepared for a dosage calc test on Monday! Not only that....she said that there would be instruction that day AND that class would be from 5:30 - 9 PM! The major problems with this is NOTHING in the eve/we program begins before 6 PM during the week. In fact, our class schedule said -> 6 PM - 10:30 PM.
Could you imaging the cluster-**** if that ONE student didn't share that email with others who then spread the word?!?! I even went to the main site, looked for faculty and she isn't even there! I had planned to email her to tell her about her issue-to-be.
God bless those of us who watch each other's back! :yeah:

Good idea, FLmomof5 -- I am a FL mom, too. Applying to schools, prereqs done, just about to play the waiting game.
I have three kids, two stepsons ( who are now out on their own like good little fledglings!), and one of my sons has autism, so I have a full plate. I am not working right now ( ha ha - I work every day), so I am free to go to school and study when kids are in school. They are getting older, so things are a little easier, though the older they get the more you have to drive them to activities!
I look fwd to meeting up with folks on this thread.
Glad you joined us!
Autism is tough. I have a cousin with autism so I know what you are facing. My boys are ADHD/ADID.
Were in FL? I'm in Jax.
