I am thinking that my $2.00 and hour call pay is seriously lacking. If I may ask what are you all getting out there for on-call pay???? Thanks, Janel

We are up to $5.00/hr now with our union contract. We did work for many years before that with very little for standby. Mike

That's not bad. I could live with $5.00 an hour.

In our OR, we get $40.00 per day for weekday call, and $50.00 per day for weekend or holiday call. We have guaranteed 40 hr/week, so we get to go home early when we finish, and we get the next day off after call .

Everyones call pay is more than I get. 1.50 hr. I have a question for you. I work at a Level II trauma center. On weekends we have to cover a 48 hr period regardless of how many hours we work. Is this legal. We do not have inhouse call. The nurses on the floor sometimes pull doubles, 16+. Why are we any different.Just want to know how you have to do. Or if you could find out for me. Thanks I forgot to mention that I work in the OR.

We have two levels of call pay. If you need to stay within 1/2 hour of hospital it is whatever the state minimum wage is. The second level is if you need to be within 1 hour of hospital then call pay is 2/3 minimum wage.

2.00 per hour and a call in bonus of $25 each time you are called in (must be a decent amt of time between calls........not 2 minutes:)) if called in you get a minimum of 2 hours pay plus the 2.00/hr of call. call in pay is time and 1/2

I would also like to know how long a nurse can work legally in 48 hs. A few weekends ago while taking call I worked 18.5 hrs on saturday and then worked 17 hrs on sunday! At 1830 on sunday I called my manager and told her I really needed some relief. NO help given ofcourse!:angryfire

Here im MA (for nurses) you may only work 16 hours in a 24 hour period. So, 32 hrs in a 48 hr period is the max you can work. You become unsafe after that. Your manager should have come to your rescue for a little relief.

Chicagoland area university hospital and union...$6.00 bucks an hour pager call.... if your called in your get paided for 3 hours even if you only work 20 minutes at 1.7 pay rate. We have lots of call hogs with that. I gotta say most people don't ever have to take call since it's easy to give it away.
