  1. MY BROTHER WAS HOSPITALIZED LAST WEEK AND HAS BEEN PUT ON ZOLOFT AND ZYPREXA. HE LIVES WITH MY PARENTS ,DOES NOT WORK AND HAS NO INSURANCE. HE WAS PUT IN ON EMERGENCY DETENTION. WE CAN ALREADY SEE AN IMPROVEMENT. BUT MY PARENTS CANNOT AFFORD THIS MEDICATION. ARE THERE ANY PROGRAMS WE CAN LOOK INTO THAT WILL HELP WITH THE EXPENSE? ANY HELP AT THIS POINT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
  2. tHANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RESPONDING! I WORK IN ACUTE DIALYSIS. ON REGULAR DAYS, WE ARE SCHEDULED IN @0600. DUE TO TRANSPORT OR OTHER PROBLEMS W/THE PATIENT ITS 9 OR EVEN 1000 BEFORE WE GET A PT. OUR TX FEE IS BASED ON A 6 HR WINDOW FOR A LONG TX (ANYTHING OVER 3HRS) ONE DAY WE HAD A PT COMING INTO THE ER AND THE DOCTOR DEMANDED I WAIT THERE FOR THE PT INSTEAD OF LEAVING. I WAITED 4 HRS. SO YES WE CAN LEAVE WHEN ITS APPROPRIATE AND TIMES WE CAN'T.
  3. I would also like to know how long a nurse can work legally in 48 hs. A few weekends ago while taking call I worked 18.5 hrs on saturday and then worked 17 hrs on sunday! At 1830 on sunday I called my manager and told her I really needed some relief. NO help given ofcourse!:angryfire
  4. Are there any FMC acute nurses out there that are paid fee for tx? I'm one and they are refusing to pay us for down time and extra long tx's. They change the rules all the time to suit them at our unit.:angryfire
  5. FMC took over our acute unit about two years ago, it's been a nightmare!!!! Staffing isn't the only problem!!!!
  6. I work in acute. We only work in 1 hospital ( THANK GOD!! ) We have an acute room with 5 stations. We only do ICU bedsides or any other pt on a vent. The person on call is responsible for all the bedsides including any PD or CRRT pts. We don't have a fixed schedule. We arrive @ 0600 AND leave when were done. A good example: I worked on call a few weekends ago and did 3 shifts (0600-0030), returned @ 0645 on sunday to do another 3 shifts (0645-2330) Called the manager for help, but didn't get any! We don't have any techs either, we do our own bicarb, cultures etc. we usually work 4 days a week, 2-3 of those on call. I LOVE MY JOB!!!!!
  7. What do you think about Fresenius?!!!
